Patch Notes: Better Loot That Grows With Your Renown, Silver Finds, the Sea Serpent's Hoard and Your Wallet
More drops, growing with your Renown
- Regular (non-elite) enemies leave more of what they carry. Offline they keep 3 of every 4 items, up from half. Online it depends on your Renown: 5 of every 8 at Renown 1, 3 of every 4 at Renown 20, and 7 of every 8 at Renown 40.
- Regular enemies drop blue, yellow and orange items more often, and online this boost also grows with your Renown. Blue is still rare, yellow is very rare, and orange is still almost impossible.
- The boost steps up at Renown 10, 20, 30 and 40, the same steps sigils use. Online, every step pays more than loot did before this update.
- The Renown that counts belongs to the player whose game rolls the loot. That is yours for the enemies you meet and for every treasure pile, and the host's for the enemies in a shared dungeon.
No more "only steel"
- The weapons and armour an enemy was wearing can now drop as Magic, Rare or better. This covers every enemy, including champions, elites and bosses. Until now worn gear always dropped plain, so most humanoid enemies only ever left plain iron and steel.
- Fixed: after you loaded a save, the worn gear of enemies already in the world dropped plain again.
- When a body is full, it now keeps a potion or rest supply ahead of a plain piece of gear.
Potions and rest supplies
- Potions of Healing drop more often: about 1 enemy in 13 carries one (it was about 1 in 33; animals never carry potions), and about 1 dungeon treasure pile in 5.
- Potions of Restore Power (magicka) now drop too: about 1 enemy in 20, and 1 treasure pile in 10.
- Rest supplies now drop online (they never did before) and drop more often: about 1 enemy in 14 carries an Ember Jar, Restorative Tonic, Meditation Candle, Waking Salts or Sleeping Draught. Dungeon treasure piles can hold any of those, plus Firewood. Online, General Stores and Alchemists now sell rest supplies too.
- These are the offline chances, and the online chances at Renown 20. Online at Renown 1 the boost is half that size, and at Renown 40 it is half again bigger.
- Fixed: other players saw your Ember Jar's fire as a plain campfire.
Silver from gathering and loot
- Gathering sometimes turns up silver now. About one harvest in ten (herbs, ore, stone, logs, hides or fish) finds 2–5 silver, up to 30 silver a day.
- Bodies, treasure piles and searches can hold silver: 1–4 silver from about 1 body in 20, 1 treasure pile in 8, and 1 search in 7 that turns something up. That includes dungeon treasure, tavern and guild hall treasure, World of Daggerfall's treasure piles and Deep Waters' chests. Up to 20 silver a day.
- Each body or pile gets one chance, so leaving a dungeon and coming back doesn't roll it again.
- If a find can't reach your account (your connection drops, say), it is kept and sent later, even after a reload.
- Found silver shows as a card under the crosshair (Enhanced Plus), or as a line in chat. The Bank's silver panel shows how much you have found today.
- Silver finds need you to be online and signed in with a registered account that is at least a week old.
The sea serpent's hoard
- Every sea serpent hoard now holds a Deadlands Ember, the Oblivion Gate's currency. It spends at the Sigil Broker's insignia counter like an ember from a breach.
- A ship that fought the serpent has a 1 in 4 chance to find a piece of Sethrakul's Coilscale, the serpent's own Aetheric set:
- Sea-Scale (2 pieces): frost resistance and Endurance.
- Constrict (4 pieces): each weapon hit on an enemy makes your next hits on that enemy stronger, stacking up to 5 times (bows count). Every enemy has its own stacks, and they fade 6 seconds after your last hit on it.
- Shed Skin (6 pieces): when an enemy's hit takes you below 35% health, you heal part of your health at once. It then needs a few minutes to recover. It doesn't trigger when a death save, like Unbroken or Divine Grace, has already kept you alive.
- Slaying the serpent now pays 40 silver (20 for a ship that stood by). This counts toward the same 150 silver a day as closing breaches and defending towns.
Arena
- Set bonuses, sigil weapon bonuses and Legendary powers now switch off in arena bouts against other players, the same way they always did in duels.
Your wallet
- Every character now carries a Wallet. New characters start with one, and existing characters receive one the next time they load.
- It holds your letters of credit, Deadlands Embers and Welkynd Shards, and shows your gold and, online, your silver.
- In the Enhanced inventory, letters of credit, Deadlands Embers and Welkynd Shards move off the pages and into the Wallet (on the Valuables page). Pick the Wallet to see what it holds and what your letters are worth. Everything inside works just as it does on the pages: pick a piece to open its card, drag it, Shift-click to stow it, or right-click for its menu.
- In the classic inventory nothing moves. The Wallet is on the Clothing & Misc page: Use it to see what it holds.
- On the hotbar, pressing the Wallet shows what it holds and fetches your silver for the next press. When it can't show your silver, it says why.
- The Wallet weighs nothing and never leaves your pack. It can't be dropped, sold, traded, put in your wagon or storage, or set out as a home decoration, and revenants can't steal it.
- Shops, banks, the Sigil Broker and the Reforge take your currencies exactly as before.
- Fixed: letters of credit now show on the Valuables page in the Enhanced inventory. They were filed under Misc.
