Patch Notes: Patreon and Ko-fi on the main menu, and a main menu that always fits

Main menu

  • Two new icons in the main menu's top-left corner: Patreon and Ko-fi. Each opens its page in your browser (from the desktop app, your system browser). Hover one and it lights up; it is reachable with the keyboard and a controller too.
  • The main menu no longer gets cut off on short windows, such as a 720p screen in a browser. The logo always shows in full, and the menu scrolls down to its last button.
  • On narrow and mid-size windows, the logo now sits below the corner icons and your profile picture instead of underneath them.

Patch Notes: Spell impacts, seen and heard

Every landing spell bursts in light

Each burst plays over the classic impact flash, and you can tell the element at a glance:

  • Fire: a fireball bloom. Embers are thrown out and fall, land and smoulder. Flame licks up, and a scorch glow and a shock ring spread on the floor.
  • Frost: a splash crown of droplets that rain down and ripple where they land, ice glints winking on the floor, and cold mist.
  • Shock: jagged lightning arcs strike from the impact into the floor, flickering and re-striking, while fast sparks skitter away.
  • Poison: green globs are lobbed out and splat into small bubbling pools, under a sickly vapour.
  • Magic: motes spiral out over rune rings.
  • Heal: a still, soft green glow on the floor with thin lines of light rising out of it. There is no shockwave and no ring. It shows on yourself, a party mate, your companion, a touch, or an area heal.

Every element's burst takes its colour from that element's own spell art in your game files, so the light matches the missile you just watched fly. Heals keep their green. Touch spells now show a small burst where they land.

Area spells show what they catch

  • Area at Range and Area around Caster now show exactly what they catch. A person is caught out to about 4.45 m, and the world boss out to about 5.8 m. A shockwave and racing sparks run out to that edge, and the edge glows for a moment.
  • The shockwave spreads across whatever the spell hit. A fireball that strikes a wall at chest height bursts as a ring on the wall, and the same goes for ceilings.
  • Bigger areas show more. The element breaks out across the whole area as the shockwave passes. Area heals fill the circle with rising light.
  • Impacts briefly light up the walls and floor around them in the element's colour.

Each impact has its own sound

The sounds are built from Daggerfall's own recordings:

  • Fire: a whumpf and crackle.
  • Frost: a splash with ice tinkles.
  • Shock: a lightning crack and buzz.
  • Poison: a squelch and bubbles.
  • Magic: a resonant thoom.
  • Heal: a new hand-picked healing shimmer.

Also

  • The classic flash, the bloom and the camera kick stay. There are fewer element-art sparks now.
  • Fixed: sparks no longer jump away when the world recentres mid-burst, and none are left behind after a load or a teleport.
  • Text and buttons in the client no longer light up with a blue selection highlight when you click or drag. Text fields can still be selected.

Patch Notes: More to furnish your home with, low-poly trees in yards, and Show Nudity for house traders

More decorations

  • The house decorator now offers the town mods' furnishings while those mods are on (Beautiful Villages, Beautiful Cities and Detailed Ships). That adds 297 pieces: the coloured beds, the paintings, tapestries and banners, rugs and hangings, set tables and stocked shelves, the captain's sea chest, the weapon rack, and more. Online, these mods are on for everyone.
  • Turning one of those mods on or off now changes what the decorator offers within a second. A mod turned on mid-game has its pieces offered and priced; a mod turned off stops offering them.
  • The decorator now offers what Daggerfall stands in its dungeons: thrones, cages, coffins, statues, chains, braziers, the knight's armour, weapons and wall hangings.
  • A yard now offers Daggerfall's street pieces (fences, wells, fountains, carts, lamp posts) and the trees and plants of its own town's climate. They are drawn in the town's climate and season, Seasons of the Iliac Bay included, and so is the placement preview of a fence or a well.
  • A tree or plant placed in a yard shows its own picture under "In this yard".
  • No existing piece's name changes; the new pieces are numbered after Daggerfall's own.

Low-poly trees in yards

  • With Low Poly Trees on, a tree or plant placed in a yard now stands as the mod's 3D tree up close and as its picture far away, like the world's own trees. It is sized and turned the way you placed it, and the placement preview shows the same tree.
  • A yard tree whose picture was still loading as you travelled no longer appears far from its yard.

Show Nudity

  • With Show Nudity off, the house decorator's Vendors no longer offer nude figures. A figure already placed in a house, ship, yard or guild hall now stands, moves and shows in the decorator's lists as its clothed stand-in, like the world's own people. It stays the same trader with the same stock.
  • The Arena crowd no longer seats nude figures while Show Nudity is off.

What's Changed

  • FIELD BUGS 2026-10-05b: the decorator's missing pieces, low-poly trees in yards, and Show Nudity for house traders by @Lattymoy in #620
  • IMPACTFX: spell impacts seen and heard; no blue selection in the client by @Lattymoy in #627
  • SUPPORT1 + DOOR-FIT: Patreon and Ko-fi on the website and main menu; the main menu no longer cut off by @Lattymoy in #624
