Patch Notes: Low Poly Trees
The wilderness in 3D
- SquidKamer's Low Poly Trees is in the game: the trees, bushes and stumps of the wilderness and of every town's gardens stand as real 3D models instead of flat pictures - 253 of them, across every climate and its winter.
- Each wild tree has its own size and turn, so no two stretches of wood look alike. Trees in towns and gardens keep their size.
- The view reaches as far as it always did. Up close you see the 3D tree; further out, a picture made from that same 3D tree stands in its place, and the two fade into each other as you walk. The distant woods draw exactly the trees they drew before, one picture a tree.
- The near trees are drawn only where you are looking, and the mod's pictures are kept only while trees near you use them.
Seasons
- Works with Seasons of the Iliac Bay. A tree takes autumn, spring and snow exactly when its flat would - in the climates the mod changes - and keeps its own colours in the ones it leaves alone. Without the mod, winter brings the trees' own snow-capped winter models.
Good to know
- On by default: Mods -> Low Poly Trees. Turning it off brings back the classic trees the next time the world loads.
- Felling a tree for Logging still works as before, and a tree still gives the same cover in a fight.
- The trees' leaves and bark are painted from your own Daggerfall files when the world loads, so nothing extra is downloaded beyond the mod's shapes (about 3 MB).
