Patch Notes: Home prices that make sense
Buying a home online
- A house's price now depends on how much ground it covers and how big its town is: 300 gold a square metre, multiplied by up to 2.75 in the largest cities.
- Every home costs between 5,000 and 250,000 gold. For example, a 6 × 6 m cottage in a hamlet costs 10,800, and a 12 × 12 m house in Daggerfall costs 118,800.
- Before, prices ran as high as 850,000, and a small house could cost more than a big one.
- A guild hall still costs the home's price and half again, so at most 375,000.
- Offline, the bank still sells houses at Daggerfall's own prices.
Selling a home online
- "Sell your home for N gold?" now shows what you will really get back: 85% of what you paid, plus any rent you haven't collected. A home bought before this change sells back for 85% of what it cost then.
- Online, the bank now buys back a knightly order's free house at 85% of the same online price the door uses. Before, the bank paid Daggerfall's old price, up to about a million.
- The free house from a knightly order is never a building another player already owns.
Clearer wording
- Home and rent prices show thousands separators (45,000 gold, not 45000).
- Home and rent lines now say the gold comes from and goes to your account at the Bank of the Empire, which is where it moves online.
What's Changed
- HOME-PRICE + its audit: online homes priced by ground and town size, 5,000-250,000, server-enforced by @Lattymoy in #587
