Patch Notes: Searchables, steady shadows, enemy pace and spell icons

New

  • Search things in dungeons and graveyards. Coffins, sarcophagi, shelves, chests, crates and graveyard headstones can be searched. You find gold and items, wake undead (sometimes an elite), or find nothing. Each one can be searched again after five game hours. Some chests and crates are locked; pick them in Steal mode.
  • Searching in a party. You get two foes per player, and a search counts for the whole party: everyone sees the same find and waits the same five hours.
  • Pace near enemies. The travel panel has a second speed setting that shows up when enemies slow the clock. It sets how slow travel gets near them. It starts at ×5, so travel no longer drops to walking pace when an enemy is near; set it to ×1 for the old behaviour.
  • Spell icons. In the spellbook, the Icon button lets you pick any icon for a spell. You can also choose no icon; the spell then shows its initials.
  • Steady shadows switch in the Enhanced lighting tile (Settings, Features). It's on by default. There's also a shadow debug log switch, off by default.

Changed

  • Normal enemies drop at most 3 items, gold included (5 in an Elite Dungeon). Their drops are mostly white, blue is rare, yellow very rare and orange almost never.
  • Champions no longer always drop a Rare. Their Magic and Rare chances are half a normal enemy's, and their Legendary chance is the same as before.
  • An elite's extra Rare chance is half a champion's at its level.

Fixed

  • Shadows no longer pop on and off with Enhanced Lighting. Every shadow is redrawn every frame.
  • The nearest twelve lamps keep full shadows (it was eight), so your shadow and the townsfolk's don't vanish when a lamp swaps in.
  • Lamps at almost the same distance no longer trade shadows back and forth.
  • Your own shadow no longer jumps from lamp to lamp.
  • While Steady shadows is on, your eyes adjust to light changes more slowly, so a brief shadow pop doesn't make the whole screen brighten and dim.

Performance

  • Steady shadows costs more graphics card work and about 48 MB more graphics memory. Turn it off if your frame rate drops.

What's Changed

  • Searchables and the foe loot cap, steady shadows, enemy pace, spell icons (four contributor drops) by @Lattymoy in #577
