Patch Notes: Time-Free Online Quests and Tougher Gear
Online quests have no time limits
- No quest fails because time ran out online. "You have 14 days", travel-time limits, "return before the time is
up" - none of them run out. Take as long as you like; the quest waits for you. - No more waiting days for the story to move. A step that would make you wait days - a letter that arrives later,
a contact who will see you in a few days, a reward paid after a wait - now moves on after about two minutes of play.
This includes Lady Brisienna's invitation and every main quest letter. - Finished quests close sooner. A quest that wraps up a while after you finish it (once you are paid, or once the
next part of the story begins) now closes within a couple of minutes. - Quest text no longer counts days online. Lines like "you have 7 days" now read "you have a few days".
- No countdowns online. The journal, the quest tracker, the quest rail and the map markers no longer show
"Time remains", and you no longer get "running out of time" warnings. - Quest letters reach you any time of day online. They still wait until you are in a town, but no longer wait for
morning. - Bounties never lapse online. A bounty you take stays yours until you finish it or drop it.
- Vampire and werewolf quests come sooner online. Clan quests and the cure quests no longer wait 38 or 84 game
days. Online they come after a few minutes of play (a cure can take ten or so), one at a time. - The Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood invitations come sooner online. They now arrive a couple of minutes after
you earn them, not three days later. - A few quests still follow day and night online. They have someone at a certain place at night or during the day,
or guard a hall for a few hours. The day and night cycle online lasts about an hour. - Offline play is unchanged: quest timers, deadlines and waits work as they do in Daggerfall.
Tougher gear
- Weapons and armour last twice as long. Wear per hit is back to Daggerfall's own rate. The last update doubled
wear, and a dagger or short bow broke after about 25 hits; it now lasts about 50, and every other piece lasts twice as
long as it did. Repairs cost the same.
What's Changed
- TIMEFREE + WEAR-ONE: online quests are not time; gear wear back to Daggerfall's (audited twice) by @Lattymoy in #538
