Patch Notes: Boulders you can quarry
Professions
- More boulders, and at the rock. A rock field's boulders mostly never appeared, and the few that did often had their loose stones out on open ground, well away from any rock. Now each boulder's stones sit at the foot of a rock you can see, and a large rock can hold more than one boulder or vein on its different sides.
- More boulders each day. Each map square now holds up to 3 boulders a day in woodlands, haunted woodlands and subtropical land (was 1), 4 in mountain woods (was 2), and 5 in mountains and deserts (was 3). Swamps and rainforests still have none. Ore veins sit at the rocks more often too.
- Settlements. Mining, quarrying, herb gathering and logging don't work in a town, farm, temple, tavern or wealthy home, or within a city block of one. Veins, boulders, herb patches and trees no longer appear there, so nothing glows or shows on the compass that you can't work. At the edge of that area, the node's action now says "not in a settlement" on its row, rather than offering an action that E then refuses. Dungeon veins aren't affected.
- Fishing: cast at any angle. Casting the net was only offered while you looked level or down at the water. It's now offered whether you look down, level or up, up to about 55 degrees either way. An herb patch or other spot you look at directly still comes first, and so does a door, a person or a chest you're looking at: E only casts when nothing else under your look takes it.
Good to know
- The boulders you can quarry glow and show on the compass. Walk up to one until "Quarry the stone" shows in the loot box, then press E, click it, or use the Pick-Axe.
Patch Notes: More nodes, and gathering on the Overworld
Professions
- Twice as many nodes. Every map square now holds twice the herb patches, trees and ore veins each day, in every climate (woodlands: 8 herb patches, 12 trees, 4 veins). The daily limit per profession is unchanged, so you gather the same amount in a day, with less walking between nodes.
The Overworld
- Gathering groups. On the Overworld, each profession's nodes on a nearby map square show as one diamond in that profession's compass colour, with how many are left today - for example "Mining ×6" or "Herbalism ×7". Only the nearest twelve within about 3 km are shown, and a group you've worked out disappears.
- Gathering filter. The Overworld's filters have a new Gathering switch to hide or show them.
- Clicking a group walks you to that spot, as clicking open ground does.
- Fewer player marks. Other players no longer flood the Overworld:
- Players standing close together on screen show as one larger dot, such as "5 travellers".
- Players off the edge of your screen in roughly the same direction share one arrow.
- Only the six players nearest you on screen show their full title, Renown, guild tag and glyphs; others, and players off the edge of the screen, show just their name.
- Your party is always shown in full.
Server
- Needs the account service update that ships with it (acct48). Deploy the account service with or before the game: the new game against the old service refuses the new nodes' harvests. On deploy day, a signature region's veins move to new slots, so one already mined that day may stand again.
What's Changed
- Life skills: quarriable boulders, settlement refusals, fishing cast; twice the nodes; gathering groups and decluttered players on the Overworld by @Lattymoy in #516
