Patch Notes: Enhanced Climbing
Climb onto ledges
- Pitched roofs: you can climb onto a roof from its eave, up to a 50° pitch. That takes in Daggerfall's steep roofs, which are a little over 45°.
Catch a ledge and hang from it
- Overhanging roofs: most of Daggerfall's roofs stand out past their walls. Jump at one from under it or from just outside it and you catch the roof's edge and hang there, clear of the wall. Its edge can be up to about 0.8 m out from the wall.
Climb any wall
- Under a roof that overhangs, you reach out to the roof's edge and hang from it, then Forward pulls you up onto the roof. A roof that stands out more than about 0.8 m, such as the deep overhang over a gable end, is out of reach. So is one steeper than 50°.
Leaps
- Jump always gets you off a wall. If there's nothing to leap to that way, Jump pushes you off the wall, as Jump with Back does. Near the top of a wall you're climbing, Jump pulls you up onto it, as Forward does. Only a grip too weak to leap keeps you holding on.
Fewer places to get stuck
These apply with Enhanced climbing off too.
- Jumping or falling against a roof or a parapet too steep to stand on no longer leaves you hanging in the air. You slide down it.
- Jumping into the edge of a low roof no longer leaves you standing in mid-air on the edge.
