Patch Notes: Nodes on the compass

Professions

  • Every gathering spot near you is now marked on the compass: herb patches, ore veins, boulders, trees, fishing schools and bodies you can skin. You no longer need a specialisation for this. Each profession's marks have their own colour:

    • Herbalism: orchid
    • Mining: copper
    • Logging: sap green
    • Hunting: rose
    • Fishing: blue

Spots within 150 m are marked, and the nearer a spot is, the brighter its mark. Marks work on both the Classic and Enhanced compass, in the wilderness, in dungeons (where ore veins grow on the walls) and in the Overworld view. They sit underneath your party's marks, Detect markers and every other compass mark, so they never hide them.

  • Gathering spots glow. Each spot gives off a faint glow in its profession's colour, with motes of light drifting up out of it, so you can pick it out from the grass and rocks around it. The glow appears as a spot comes within about 120 m and fades with distance. If your system is set to reduce motion, the glow holds still. It isn't drawn in the Overworld view.

  • Spots you've used up stop showing. A vein you mined, a tree you felled, a patch where you took both the herbs and the food, or a body you skinned no longer has a mark or a glow. A patch with one harvest left keeps both.

  • The Prospector still sees further. A Prospector's ore veins are marked from 200 m away, where everyone else's show from 150 m. A Tracker's animals are still marked within 100 m, now in Hunting's rose rather than copper.
