Patch Notes: Blood overhaul
No more perfect circles
- Spatter lands the way the blow threw it. Spray used to be spaced evenly around the body and stretched straight outward, so every kill left the same starburst. Now blood lands in one to three uneven clumps. A swing throws most of it the way you swung, and some drops fly off anywhere. Most drops are small, a few are large, and now and then one flies much further than the rest.
- Streaks come from how a drop hit, not how far it went. A drop that falls steeply lands round. Only the fast, flat, far-flung ones smear into long streaks, pointing the way they travelled. This is what removed the wheel of spokes around a body.
Blood droplets you can see
- Droplets fly from the wound and land where their stain appears. Each drop arcs through the air under gravity and leaves its mark on the exact spot it lands, on the floor, the wall or the ceiling. The pool under the body still appears as soon as the hit lands.
- Drops that hit the ceiling still drip back down afterwards.
Sharper, more varied stains
- Stain art is twice as detailed (128 pixels per stain, up from 64), and every shape is generated from noise, so edges are ragged at every scale.
- Pools are several blobs run together, with fingers where the blood ran and small splashes to one side.
- Spatter has a core with tendrils thrown out in one or two directions, beads at their ends, and a fine mist on the side they flew.
- Streaks are teardrops that curve as they thin, leave a line of droplets past the tail, and splash back behind the head.
- The larger stain sheet is built in the background while you play, so the first hit of a session doesn't stutter.
