Patch Notes: Mountains and town roads
Overworld
- No more lag near World of Daggerfall mountains. Standing or walking near one of World of Daggerfall's mountains could slow the game to a crawl, and every monster nearby made it worse. Its giant rocks are hundreds of metres across, and the game checked your footing against far too many of them at once. It now checks only the rock faces within reach of you.
- Routes go around World of Daggerfall mountains. A route picked on the Overworld map knew only Daggerfall's own mountain country, so it could send you straight into a World of Daggerfall mountain. It now goes around them, as it already went around the Mountain regions. Roads through a pass are still used, and if you're already standing among the rocks the route walks you out.
- Routes follow the road around towns. A road on the map meets in the middle of a town's square, so a route through a town used to aim you across the town itself, into the walls. The road actually runs around the town, and now so do you: in on the side you arrive from, around the edge, and out the side the road leaves by. Travel Options walks around a town the same way when you follow a road by hand.
Good to know
- Loose rock fields are not treated as mountains, because you can walk through them. You steer around their boulders as before.
- Routes still pick their way over hilly and wooded country, and avoid only true mountain regions and steep drops.
