Patch Notes: Your own time
Your character now keeps their own clock online. The world's clock is still shared: sun, moons, calendar, weather, shops and events. Nobody can move it.
Two clocks
- Your clock runs while you play, and jumps ahead when you rest, wait, fast travel, train, serve a sentence, eat, drink, cook or hunt.
- It stops while you're logged off or dead. Time logged off is never charged to you.
- Time away is measured on the server's clock, not your computer's.
- On your clock: wounds, spells, hunger, thirst, sleep, diseases, poisons, vampirism and lycanthropy, skill checks, training, guild rank waits, guild letters, rented rooms, loans and repairs.
- On the world's clock: the sky, day and night, full moons, holidays, prices, shops, events, respawns and quest timers (played time only).
Lycanthropy and vampirism
- An infection counts the days you live, rests and travel included. No more hours of play to turn.
- A vampire's thirst and a werewolf's urge run on your clock too, so a long rest makes you hungry.
- The sun is still the world's, so a bare-headed vampire can't fast travel by day. Raise a hood to go. The message now says how many real minutes until night falls (an hour at most).
Rest and travel
- Resting online ages everything an hour of rest should: spells run out, diseases progress, hunger grows, skills get their check.
- Fast travel shows the journey's days again. They pass on your clock, and you arrive in the world's present. Cautious travel heals you again.
- Sailing from the Overworld tells you how many days of your time the voyage takes.
- In a party rest, each member's night passes on their own clock.
- Prison sentences are served on your clock, and you walk out rested.
- Collapsing from exhaustion costs a full hour and pays it back in full.
Rooms, loans and repairs
- They read in your time: "7 days of your time (14h of play)". Resting uses it up; logging off doesn't.
- A loan that's already due says "now".
Copying characters
- Copy to offline moves the world's timers onto your character's calendar. Quest time limits, journal dates, campfires and shop stock keep their distance, and the copy gets raids of its own.
- Bring online starts your character in the world's present. It is never charged for time away.
Fixes
- Resting no longer rolls a disease's daily damage twice.
- Loading after an online rest no longer resets hunger and thirst for free.
- When your room runs out during a rest, the rest ends and the room is really gone.
- Conjured items run out during a long rest, as spells do.
- A town you saved from raiders stays saved when the world's clock is corrected, and pays you once. A guild shelf you bought out stays bought out.
- A character made online no longer gets a skill check the moment it's created.
- A save with a damaged clock loads safely instead of freezing the game.
Older saves load as before.
