Patch Notes: The main theme, in Daggerfall's own voice
Music
- The opening film and the main menu now play the main theme through the game's own music system, the FM synth every Daggerfall song plays on, instead of a recording. It is the same theme, transcribed note for note, so it now sounds like the rest of the soundtrack.
- It follows your Music Volume setting as you move it, like every other song.
- The film's two big moments still land exactly on the music: the cloud break, and the logo's landing on the beat.
- The theme is fuller and wider than it was: every section plays as an ensemble spread across the stereo field, the drums have real beaters and skins, high strings shimmer over the big moments, low brass lands under them, and the whole thing plays in a concert hall.
- The strings and the choir are bowed and sung now, not whistled: every section has its own body, a slow vibrato, the spread of many players, and every held note swells and eases like a bow stroke; the build-ups into the two big moments are a cymbal roll rather than a synth sweep; the bass sits where the original recording's does, and the whole mix is balanced to it.
