Patch Notes: Safer deaths in the open zones
Only other players take what you carry
- In the Wrothgarian Mountains and on the open Eltheric Ocean, dying to a monster, a ship, a fall or the sea no longer drops anything. You keep your bag, your cart, your companions' packs and everything you wear.
- A death like that costs only the usual tenth of your purse, the same as dying anywhere else.
- Being killed by another player works as before: your bag drops where you fell (your cart too, if it is with you), and your killer may claim one piece you were wearing.
- The gold a player's kill drops is now a tenth of your purse instead of half.
- A kill now takes a tenth of each letter of credit's worth into the remains instead of the whole letter. The letter stays in your wallet.
No dodging a fight by dying to something else
- If another player struck you in the last 10 seconds and something else finishes you off, the kill is theirs.
Where you rise
- After dying to a foe in the Wrothgarian Mountains, you rise in the nearest town inside the zone, in the same ring you fell in. Dying is no longer a free way out of the zone.
- A player's kill still rises you in a town outside the zone.
The Fleet on the open sea
- You can't Summon a ship or Send one away on the open sea while it is a PvP zone. Sail her there yourself.
Your spellbook is always safe
- No death in either zone takes your spellbook, whether it's in your bag, your cart or a companion's pack. It was already kept, and tests now make sure it stays that way.
Clearer words
- The zone's entry message, the zone chip's tip, the zone map's legend and the tutorial page now say a player's kill drops what you carry, not any death. The tutorial page now covers both zones.
- After dying to a foe in a zone, the death screen says: "Nothing dropped. Only another player's kill drops what you carry."
- The changed lines are translated into every language.
Fixes
- A player's kill could be charged twice, once into the remains and once more on rising. This happened when your game noticed the kill late, for example in a background tab. Fixed.
- A Resurrect after a player's kill no longer says your gold was spared.
