Security

  • Applied the five pending Dependabot Go dependency updates:
    • Bumped cloud.google.com/go/container from 1.53.1 to 1.55.0.
    • Bumped golang.org/x/oauth2 from 0.36.0 to 0.37.0.
    • Bumped golang.org/x/term from 0.45.0 to 0.46.0.
    • Bumped k8s.io/apimachinery and k8s.io/client-go from 0.37.0 to 0.37.1.
    • Aligned transitive k8s.io/api to 0.37.1 and updated the required golang.org/x/sys dependency to 0.48.0.
  • These dependency updates passed the full Go test suite, build, and module checksum verification; they do not establish that all outstanding security alerts are resolved.

Changed

  • Headlamp's unused PVC check uses the Kubernetes Unused condition when available and includes its lastTransitionTime in findings. Without that condition, it checks references from non-terminal pods.
  • Clarified that missing container user settings require image-user verification and do not prove root execution.
  • AKS Pod Security Admission checks now distinguish version-based availability from namespace enforcement, which is covered by the in-cluster SEC007 check.

Fixed

  • Corrected AKS dashboard detection so absent or disabled addons do not fail, and removed the unsupported inference that an enabled dashboard is publicly accessible.
  • Check the actual node count in every AKS system pool rather than counting pools or relying on autoscaler minimums. Require isolation taints on system pools, not user pools.
  • Detect enabled autoscaling from node-pool flags, accept Node Auto-provisioning as an alternative, and correctly handle Standard/Premium SLA tiers, both managed identity types, running Kubernetes versions, and VM generations v10 and newer.
  • Missing AKS upgrade channels and network-policy settings no longer silently pass.
  • Exclude built-in namespaces and automatically created default ServiceAccounts from orphan cleanup findings while retaining application-resource checks.
  • Recognise the standard AKS isolation taint only on labelled system-pool nodes.
  • Root-user checks inspect only actual containers and respect inherited security settings and container overrides.
  • Avoid Service-selector false positives when a Service targets another Deployment or pod in the namespace.
  • Account for aggregated ClusterRoles, managed roles, and bootstrap bindings in orphaned RBAC checks.
  • Corrected inverted StorageClass volume-expansion and admission-policy failure-policy predicates in the Go and Headlamp catalogues.
  • Added regression tests and regenerated the Headlamp check catalogue.
