Mandatory Update — SALT v2 Hardfork at DAA 17,275,000
All miners MUST update before DAA 17,275,000 (~May 30, 2026 15:00 UTC).
Miners running v0.2.8 or earlier will produce invalid blocks and earn no rewards after activation.
What's New
kHeavyHash SALT v2 — Hardfork Activation
A new matrix salt (KERYX:KeryxHash-v2:2026-05-29) replaces the original one at DAA 17,275,000. This hardfork reinforces the GPU-only mining guarantee by making the previous PoW incompatible. Blocks mined with the old salt after activation are rejected by the network.
OPoI Inference Challenge System
Full implementation of the Optimistic Proof of Inference challenge mechanism:
- The node now issues inference challenges to miners during block template requests
- Challenge nonces are verified server-side to prevent replay attacks
- Pending challenges are echoed to the miner until answered or expired, eliminating spurious re-issuance
Bug Fixes
- gRPC — Connection correctly forwarded to GetBlockTemplate for OPoI challenge delivery
- OPoI — Nonce verification added to challenge response handler (prevents replay)
- OPoI — Challenge stability: nonce re-issued only on expiry, not on every request
- UPnP — Port mapping failure downgraded from WARN to INFO with an actionable message (reduces log noise on firewalled setups)
