"Into the black, far far away" Update

Finally: v1.0.0.0! This release now includes everything I had in mind when I started working on EDXD, and even more. I still have some ideas that will find their way into EDXD in future releases, so stay tuned.

o7 commanders!

It is recommended to run the journal historian after updating to this version.

New Features

#252, #254, #255, #256, #257, #260, #261 - If you encounter a system that has already been FSSed by you in the past, but for whatever reason you don't have the logs from back then, fear no more: Just do another D-Scan and EDXD fetches the systems data from spansh. So no more incomplete data for systems in the bubble (and elsewhere).

#39, #274, #275, #276 - Back from the black? Already forgot the layout of all the stations landing pads? Getting fined for loitering, just because you tried to find that assigned landing pad? No more confusion! The landing pad indicator is here! Works for most stations, fleet- and squadron-carriers.

#259 - Ever left a station and only realising you forgot your crew NPC when trying to launch your SLF? Now you just look at the "Status Flags" panel when you left the station so you can turn around immediately and pick them up.

#194 - "Are we there yet?" Your currently plotted ingame route is now being displayed with up to 10 passed and up to 25 upcoming systems in the current route. Complete with N/D* indicators (for jet cone boost), jump distance and scoopable indicators. If you're running low on fuel and the next systems in your path are non-scoopables, just double-click a scoopable passed system to copy its name to paste it in the galaxy view. And of course you can see the remaining jumps and distance of the route.

#7 - EDSM API Yes, this idea was one of the first. Well, this is just a basic lookup of a systems main star for the route plotter, as a backup for spansh.

#306 - Wait... what? What's happening!? Finally there's proper logging!

#155 - When you're low on fuel ( < 10% ) the fuel gauge will flash.

#176, #175 - "It's been a long road, gettin' from there to here...". Well, ED's navigation and route plotting is not always what's needed. So here's the spansh integration!

Available plotters from https://spansh.co.uk:

  • #294: Neutron Plotter - This is a classic. Want to go from Sol to Colonia, and visit Sagittarius A* on the way? Add as much waypoints to your route as you want.

  • #295: Road to Riches (R2R) - You know this one. Plot a route from system A to system B, or just a sphere around system A, that will lead you to the most valuable worlds.

  • #296: Galaxy plotter - State of the art plotter. It will attempt to plot an exact route, including fuel usage, neutron supercharges and injection boosts if so desired.

  • #302: Expressway to Exomastery - Very much like R2R, but emphasises on planets with biosigns. Keep your Nomad handy.

  • #303: Ammonia World Route - Based on R2R, filtered for ammonia worlds

  • #304: Earth-like World Route - Based on R2R, filtered for Earth-like worlds

  • #305: Rocky body / High metal content World Route - Based on R2R, filtered for rocky bodies and high metal content worlds

Note: Only the last plotted route per selected plotter is saved and can be loaded again. If you want to plan an expedition with multiple routes and waypoints, have a look at Elite Dangerous Expedition by @Otard95

Documentation in ./docs/

  • #179 - <systemID>.json
  • #180 - edxd_ship_status.json
  • #181 - edxd_timestamp.json
  • #182 - config.json
  • #307 - slef_loadout.json

Changes

  • #297 - When you run EDXD for the first time the panels no longer clutter your entire screen. A welcome message greets you and leads you to the configuration, where you can select what panels should be visible, besides other things.
  • #301 - removed the value range display in biosignal prediction. just show what'S probably there.

Bug Fixes

  • #253: AttributeError when accessing ship_name in journal_controller
  • #265: (nixOS specific) flake.nix updated (thanks to @zer0se7ense7en)
  • #263: (Linux specific) In order to move the panels around on Wayland, EDXD will run explicitly on X11.
    • Requirements cachyOS: cachyOS_install_x11_deps.sh
  • #300 - prevent panels from being opened multiple times

Known issues

  • #248: The use of "frozen columns" makes a mess out of the tooltips of the column headers. That seems to be a wx.Grid quirk. Until a solution is found, there will be no frozen columns for the time being.

Binary Compatibility

This release includes binaries for multiple Linux distributions. To ensure compatibility with your system, there are now three variants compiled against different glibc versions:

  • ubuntu-20.04 (glibc 2.31): For older distributions like Ubuntu 20.04, Linux Mint 21, Debian 11
  • ubuntu-24.04 (glibc 2.39): For modern distributions like Ubuntu 24.04, Linux Mint 22, ZorinOS 17
  • ubuntu-26.04 (glibc 2.43+): For the latest distributions like Ubuntu 26.04+, CachyOS

Don't know which to use? Run the check-compatibility.sh script to automatically determine the right binary for your system:

./check-compatibility.sh

If none of the binaries work with your system, you can use the build.sh script to compile EDXD from source:

./build.sh --out ./
