Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds, PC port v1.0.1

No game data is included. You need your own Xbox copy of Chaos Bleeds as a disc image (.iso or .xiso).

Movies on Android, and the 30 FPS mode now runs the game at its proper speed.

Android 📱

• Movies play. The intro and story movies play with sound, decoded by the phone's own hardware. Leave the app mid-movie and it waits for you. A phone can't decode the disc's own video format, so copy the Movies folder from a PC install into games/Buffy Chaos Bleeds on the phone (the PC launcher makes these .mp4 files when it installs). The Install tab says how many movies it found. Without them, the game skips the movies as before.
• Turning the screen off while the game starts no longer closes it with "No graphics device". It waits until the screen is back.

30 FPS mode (PC and Android) 🎯

The FPS limit lets you play at 30 to save power or on slower hardware, and the game is meant to keep its own speed. Two things still counted frames:

• The game's own frame counter and clock moved at half speed at 30 FPS. They now keep a 60-a-second beat at any limit, like the monster timers already did. They drive "every so many frames" things such as combat music changes and thrown characters.
• The save messages ("Saving game…" and "Game saved") stayed up twice as long at 30 FPS, 6 and 4 seconds, and too briefly above 60. They're now 3 and 2 seconds at any frame rate, as on the console.

Measured on PC at 30, 60 and 120 FPS, on both the European and North American releases.

Install

1. PC, updating from v0.3.0 or later: the launcher offers the update when it starts, or click Check now on the Play tab.
2. PC, new install: download Buffy-Chaos-Bleeds-PC-v1.0.1.zip below and unzip it anywhere. Run Buffy Launcher.exe, open the Install tab, choose your disc image and a folder, then click Install.
3. Android: download Buffy-Chaos-Bleeds-Android-v1.0.1.apk below and install it over v1.0.0 (your game files, saves and settings stay). For a new install, see the README.

Known limits

• Android: texture packs, the FPS counter and the North American release aren't there yet. Only a Snapdragon phone has been tested.
• Story co-op is still experimental. Linux and Steam Deck (Proton) are still untested.
