Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds, PC port v0.4.1 (preview)
No game data is included. You need your own Xbox copy of Chaos Bleeds as a disc image (
.isoor.xiso).
A story co-op update: player 2 can now do what player 1 does.
Story co-op fixes 🧛🧛
- Ladders and climbing work for player 2. Before, some ladders never let player 2 climb (and some let down player 1 too), because the game only ran them in rooms it thought were in view. Now any room a player stands in always counts. That also fixes doors, press-a-button spots and monsters near player 2 when the two of you are apart.
- Bosses and some enemies go after the nearer player, not always player 1.
- Story objects react to whichever player is nearer: pick-ups and other scripted things. When the story moves that player somewhere, the other player comes along.
- NPCs, bystanders and hostages follow and react to the nearer player.
- Energy from kills flies to the nearer player.
- Triggers that only checked player 1 now also work for player 2: proximity triggers that check what you carry or which way you face, "someone came close" triggers and moving walls.
Other fixes
- The Debug overlay now names the renderer in use (it showed "Native Direct3D 11" under Vulkan too).
- More of the Vulkan shaders come compiled in the download, so there's less stutter the first time you play.
Install
- Updating from v0.3.0 or v0.4.0: the launcher offers the update when it starts, or click Check now on the Play tab.
- New install: download Buffy-Chaos-Bleeds-PC-v0.4.1.zip below and unzip it anywhere. Run
Buffy Launcher.exe, open the Install tab, choose your disc image and a folder, then click Install. Press Play.
Your saves, settings and mods are kept.
Known limits
- Story co-op is still experimental. The boss, NPC and story-object changes haven't been played through end to end yet. If something still only works for player 1, please report it with the level and roughly where.
- The Vulkan renderer has only been tested on NVIDIA. Direct3D 11 is one click away in Settings.
- Linux and Steam Deck (Proton) are still untested.
