New: generic controllers, Oberon and mouse

Until now only Xbox gamepads (Windows.Gaming.Input.Gamepad) and the keyboard could play. Controllers the console exposes as RawGameController are now listed next to the gamepads and can play too: third-party and generic controllers, and controllers connected through an Oberon adapter.

  • Settings → Controllers and keyboard → Map controller shows a card per connected controller. Press a button on one to see which card it is.
  • Each controller keeps its own mapping, edited like the keyboard's, and applies it to the player it drives in game.
  • The editor marks the binding being edited and any required input that is still missing, so a mapping can't be saved in a state that leaves you stuck.
  • Oberon and similar adapters: if the adapter turns View + Menu into another button, give that controller its own shortcut for the in-game menu. Only player 1's opens it. View + Menu stays the default.
  • Mouse as right stick: with a mouse connected, moving it drives the right stick (menu closed, no text entry), with its own mouse sensitivity. The model follows Eden's mouse panning. Mouse buttons are not mapped.

Right stick settings

  • Invert the X or Y axis and set the right stick sensitivity. They apply to every source: controller, keyboard and mouse.
  • Settings → Controllers and keyboard sets the values for all games. The in-game controller page changes them for the running game only; a game with nothing set follows Settings.

New: Memory Edit

A memory editor inside Jadyx, similar to what Cheat Engine does on PC: find a number the game shows, such as money, lives or ammo, and change it. No cheat file or code needed, and it works on any game. It lives in the in-game menu (hold View + Menu) as Memory Edit.

How to use it

  1. In the game, look at the number you want to change. Hold View + Menu and open Memory Edit.
  2. Type that number and choose Search.
  3. Go back to the game and play until the number changes. Open Memory Edit again, type the new number and choose Refine. The pad already shows the number you searched, so you only edit it.
  4. Repeat until only a few results are left. Press A on one to change it, or mark several with ←/→ and A writes the new value to all of them.
  5. Go back to the game to see the change.

Details

  • Values: 8, 16, 32 and 64-bit integers and 32 and 64-bit decimals. Automatic looks for 32-bit integers (64-bit when the number doesn't fit) and both decimals; 8 and 16-bit are picked by hand, because they match too much.
  • Where it searches: RAM first, then the pages Permafrost keeps on disk. Disk pages are read in place: the search does not bring them back into RAM or change how Permafrost treats them.
  • Results live in a temporary file, not in RAM, so a broad first search does not eat the game's memory. A very common number (0, for example) is refused with a message.
  • Writing several at once: every target is checked before anything is written, and the message says how many changed.
  • See the game: the page draws over the paused game with no blur or dimming, so you can read the number on screen. Menu hides the page and leaves a small "paused" label; Menu or B brings it back.
  • A warning is shown the first time: changing a game's memory can break the game or the save.

Fixes

  • Adding updates and DLC in the app was confusing. The first step asked "USB or internal storage?", and choosing internal storage still asked for a USB drive, because the files are always read from a USB drive or folder. The order is now: open the USB drive or folder, choose the files, review them, then choose where to keep them. Copy to the console is the default and the step shows the size and free space. Without a USB drive, the page points to the Jadyx Portal (game page → Upload and install).
  • Menu alone now reaches the open in-game menu as its own action. Pages that don't use it ignore it.

Known issues

  • Memory Edit can break a game or a save. Writing the wrong address can crash the game or corrupt a save. Back up the save with the Jadyx Portal before editing.
  • Exact GPU reads off by default. With the setting off, a game that reads a preflushable range right after a fence can see the old contents. If a game fails or behaves oddly, turn it on for that game. It can lower the FPS.
  • Black objects or screen while shaders build. With New shaders set to Skip or Balanced, a draw whose pipeline is still building is skipped. When later passes depend on it, whole objects or the screen can go black for a moment. Wait avoids this at the cost of more stutter.
  • Cold pipeline stutter. Compiling a pipeline can still stutter the first time a new area or effect is seen.
  • Pop-in in some engines. In games built on one family of engines, objects and parts of the scenery pop in and out as the camera moves.
  • Memory limit. Some games reach the 5 GB (5120 MiB) that Dev Mode gives an app in Game mode. Permafrost keeps more of them running, but heavy games can still stutter while it swaps.
  • Frame generation artifacts. Fast-moving edges and some HUD elements can show ghosting with frame generation on.
  • Network label. The Ethernet/Wi-Fi label in Device Portal can be wrong on Xbox Series. This is a platform limitation.

Install

You need an Xbox Series X|S in Dev Mode. No keys, firmware or games are included: use your own dumps.

  1. Download Jadyx_0.3.12.0_x64.appx and Microsoft.VCLibs.x64.14.00.appx from the assets below. Since Jadyx 0.3.9.0, you no longer need to upload a separate .cer file.
  2. On a PC on the same network, open Device Portal at https://<xbox-ip>:11443 (Dev Home shows the address) and accept the browser's certificate warning.
  3. Choose Add, pick the Jadyx appx, add the VCLibs appx as a dependency if a compatible version is not already installed, and install.
  4. In Dev Home, select Jadyx → View details and set App type to Game. In App mode it runs out of memory.
  5. Start Jadyx and send your keys, firmware and games from a PC or phone with the Jadyx Portal: Settings → File manager → Jadyx Portal → Start portal, open the address it shows in a browser on the same network and enter the connection code.
  6. Other ways: import keys and firmware from a folder or ZIP on a USB drive in Settings → File manager, and add games from an external folder or USB drive, or copy them to the app's LocalState\games folder with the Device Portal file explorer.

A newer version installs over the previous one and keeps your games, saves and settings. Do not uninstall to update: uninstalling deletes them.

Reporting bugs

Open an issue at https://github.com/JulianDr14/jadyx/issues/new/choose with the Bug Report form. A good report has:

  • The Jadyx version (0.3.12.0) and whether it is a Series X or S, in Game mode.
  • What you did, what you expected and what happened instead, with the steps to make it happen again.
  • The logs from the app's LocalState\jadyx\log folder (Device Portal → File explorer): jadyx_log.txt, jadyx_diag.txt and, for graphics problems, jadyx_graphics_bugs.log. Grab them right after the problem, before launching another game.

Search the existing issues first. Reports about pirated keys, firmware or games are closed. If the bug also happens in the desktop builds of Eden, report it to Eden instead.
