v2.0.0: Standalone, Performance fix, randomizer, and mod browser

latest releases: v2.2.0, v2.1.0

Dusklight 2.0 has been released this week, so I have updated TPVR to go along with it! 2.0 comes with a randomizer, mod menu, and improved framerates. I have also created a standalone port of the game, running on a Quest 3! It has been approved for SideQuest, and I will release it on here too. Lastly, I rewrote some of the way rendering works to get a 200-400% performance boost. I literally could not test how high the actual framerate goes due to my headset's physical limit of 120. It was 40fps on my mid-tier GPU in heavy places like Castle Town and Ordon Village. Now it consistently hits a stable 120fps in those areas.

You must enable Single Pass Stereo in the VR settings for a majority of the framerate boost to take effect.

Additions:

  • Dusklight 2.0 features, such as randomizer, mod browser, and improved interpolation/framerates
  • Standalone release for Quest 3, so you can play without a computer

Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug where you would get stuck until you roll upon interacting with dialogue or text
  • Fixed a bug where you could not push or pull object such as big doors or chains
  • FIxed performance on PC. By bypassing a blockage in rendering and also rewriting how it renders both eyes, it now renders the game in one pass rather than each eye one time, effectively halving the CPU usage and doubling or quadrupling the framerate
  • Fixed UI scaling and brought it closer to your face. It now has a 16:9 ratio just like the flatscreen Wii version, but it is closer to your face and more legible.

Known issues:

  • New single-pass rendering process broke any texture that uses screen space reflections. I already disabled as many of these textures as I could, but now they appear like a black fog instead and may block your view in some parts of the game.
  • Scents are not visible when using your senses
  • Certain sequences may require you to toggle 3rd person on, as the camera is not in the correct place, such as the Lost Woods Statue Puzzle and the Zora River flying sequence.
  • You need to aim an item up at the water temple boss, as looking at it in VR does not trigger it
  • The fire spouts in Goron Mines are invisible, possibly sharing a shader with the senses
  • Getting off of Epona sets your camera too low; you can work around this by squatting a bit, recentering your view in your headset, and standing back up

A lot of these are not new issues but I haven't covered them in a changelog. The ones more on the game-breaking side are my top priority right now.
