Mostly work for the MCP server to provide more reliable answers.

MCP server

  • Answers stay readable: anything over 60,000 characters is cut to the most recent rows, with a note on how to narrow it. limit works as head/tail (5 first, -5 last) on every tool. Large outputs (simulations, binomial tree, ETF holdings) have compact defaults.
  • Better discovery: search_metrics returns the exact indicator and its tool and understands analyst wording ("how expensive is the stock"). The server sends usage instructions on connect. Every parameter has a real description, from the docstrings.
  • Notes explain the answer: tickers without data, ignored arguments, yearly-only data, sample yield curves, assumed bond inputs, where a series ends, fiscal-year mapping and currency conversion.
  • Inputs: show_columns matches any casing and countries accept short forms (USA, UK). Weights, yield curves, option strategy legs and lists can be passed. Transcripts come back in full per company and fiscal period. Option chains say which expiry they show.
  • Hosted server: at most 4 Economics and 64 Toolkit instances are kept, and one Global Macro Database copy is shared per process (memory stays flat across date ranges).
  • Tools: search_instruments is removed (Finance Database covers it), search_categories is renamed search_metric_categories, and EGARCH is no longer offered (~45s per fit).

Package

  • Stale FMP data fixed: Commitment of Traders, sector and industry history and 8-K filings now request a date range.
  • Stock screener: market caps are in USD, primary_only keeps the home listing, and it returns stocks only unless is_etf=True.
  • Symbols: ISIN/CUSIP/CIK search uses its own parameters, and currency and crypto pairs are accepted in either notation (EURUSD or EURUSD=X).
  • Economics: quarterly and monthly rates use sources with that frequency, calendar event matching ignores spaces and hyphens, and Current Policies climate scenarios work.
  • Fixes and additions:
    • Daily GARCH forecasts are dated by business day.
    • Gainers and losers are sorted by change and ETF weights largest first.
    • Gross margin is empty where cost of goods sold is zero.
    • The Sharpe ratio takes annualize.
    • Option chains take strike_price_range.
