Windows Media Player 9 for games Proton leaves silent. Some games cannot use Proton's own Windows Media decoders: they play no sound, or freeze on a black screen when their music or videos start. Halo 2, whose sound is all WMA, does both. A program's Properties > Compatibility tab now has Use Windows Media Player 9 for sound and video. Tick it, and the next time the program starts, Windows Media Player 9 is installed into that version of Proton's Windows with winetricks (downloaded when needed, once per version). Proton's own decoders are then switched off for that program alone, and Microsoft's are used in their place. Untick it to put things back.

A Prefixes tab in Proton Manager. It lists every Windows that programs run in: one for each version of Proton (under
~/.local/share/l2k/prefixes), those left by versions since removed, and Wine's own. Each shows the version of Proton that set it up and the programs that run in it. From there, open its C: drive or its folder, copy its path, or open Wine Settings for it. A prefix whose version is gone uses the default version.curl -fsSL https://jacktulli.github.io/w2k | sh
