- System Properties, as sysdm.cpl drew it. General has the monitor with the flag, and beside it the system (your distribution, Linux 2000's version, the kernel), who it is registered to, and the computer: the processor, the machine's maker and model, and the memory in KB. Network Identification shows the computer's name and workgroup, Hardware opens Device Manager, User Profiles lists the accounts, and Advanced opens Performance Options and the environment variables. Open it from My Computer's Properties (on the desktop and in Explorer), Control Panel > System, Start > Settings > System Properties, Win+Pause, or
sysdm. - A drive's property sheet: right-click a drive in Explorer > Properties. It shows the label, type and file system, used and free space in bytes and GB, the capacity, and the pie with "Drive C" under it. The label can be changed (through udisks). Tools runs a read-only disk check for ext2/3/4, FAT, exFAT and NTFS, and Hardware lists the disk drives.
- Disk Cleanup frees space on a drive: browser caches, thumbnails, your own temporary files older than a week, and the Recycle Bin (unticked, as on Windows). It shows what each would free. Open it from the drive's sheet, Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup (which asks which drive first), or
cleanmgr.
