A game that won't start now has a Fix it button
When a game or a Homebrew app dies with "Can't start the game or app", press Fix it: ✕ on its Library tile, in its Options, or in "Why won't it start?". It reads ShadowMount's log first and tells you where things stand:
- Not started yet: start it once from the home screen, so there's a launch to read.
- Started fine last time: nothing to fix.
- Didn't start: it opens the game's files (and its backport's) so the console can run them, and turns off the game's own fakelibs when they may be what crashes it, only on a console new enough for the game. Then start it from the home screen.
Still won't start? The next press turns fakelibs back on for one more try, and after that it points you to "Why won't it start?". It works on downloaded games, Homebrew apps and games you copied over FTP.
Homebrew updates keep your saves
Updating a Homebrew app used to swap its whole folder for the new one, and anything the app kept inside went with the old one: an emulator's saves, settings and profiles. PS5X360's update from 0.6.0 to 1.0.0 lost its Xbox 360 profile that way. Now an update replaces only the files the new version ships and leaves the rest where it is. It stays on the drive the app is on, and an update that can't finish puts back the version you had.
Removing an app now asks first when it has saved something in its folder: keep it for when you install the app again, or delete it all.
Also in 0.5.2
- Jobee'sLair online. The bottom bar shows how many people are on Jobee'sLair right now, and announcements show in a bar under the top menu. To help decide what to fix next, the app shares anonymous stats while it's open: a random ID made on your console, the app version, firmware and language, and which Homebrew apps install or fail. Never your PSN name, your console's ID, your games or your downloads. Turn it off in Settings → About & credits.
- L1/R1 stop at Browse. They jumped from Discover straight to Top rated. Browse is now its own section: the whole catalog, A to Z.
- Your Library survives a long queue. Starting a 33rd download took every finished game out of the queue, and their tiles turned into loose files. Finished games now only leave Downloads.
- Backports run. Their files are opened when they're placed, like a game's, and the ones you already have are fixed the next time the app starts.
- Homebrew apps and FTP games say whether they start. Their Library tiles show Won't start or Played, like downloaded games.
- New games have their pictures. Some games added to the catalog showed a blank tile. They now use the PlayStation Store's cover.
- Sets through TorBox stay with TorBox. Part 2 of a set no longer opens the browser while part 1 downloads through TorBox or AllDebrid. And when TorBox itself is down, the app says so.
- The update window stays closed once you close it, instead of coming back at every launch.
- The screen saver keeps its pictures after a download, instead of sitting on black for hours.
- Moving a big game to a drive without room stops right away and says how much room it needs, instead of failing halfway.
- A safer phone page while the app is closed: it only answers at your console's own address.
Installing
Already on 0.5.1: open Jobee'sLair and it offers 0.5.2 by itself. Download and install, then Restart to apply.
Fresh install, or by hand: copy JobeesLair.exfat to /data/homebrew over FTP, with Jobee'sLair closed if you're replacing one, and launch it. update.zip is what installed copies use to update; you don't need it.
Something off? Settings → About → Report a bug, or post in the Discord with /data/ps5-react/PPSA99471/app.log if it crashes before you get there.
