Jobee'sLair 0.5.1

Far more of the catalog actually plays now

Most games in the catalog come down as archives: a RAR, a 7z, a zip holding the game folder. Until today, every one of those was unpacked with files the console refuses to run. The game downloaded fine, installed fine, showed up on the home screen, and died the moment you pressed it: "Can't start the game or app". No error, nothing in the logs, nothing you could fix from the console. People turned fakelibs off, reinstalled, redownloaded, blamed the dump. It was never the dump.

0.5.1 fixes it, in three places at once:

  • Every new download is unpacked with files the console can run.
  • Every game you already extracted is repaired the first time 0.5.1 starts. Nothing to redo. The games that said "Can't start" on 0.5.0 start now.
  • Every game you download from here on is opened the moment it's installed, as a second guard.

Games delivered as .exfat or .ffpfsc images were never affected and keep working as before.

In practice this is the biggest single jump in how much of the catalog works since the store existed. If you deleted a game in frustration, download it again. It will start.

Also in 0.5.1

  • 13.60 Ready at a glance. Open a game and the page says how many of its links run on your console, with the best ones listed right there. No digging through sources.
  • A live catalog. Games come from the public catalogs, refreshed every few hours. No more duplicate entries, real PlayStation Store ratings for Top Rated, and a New this week row.
  • AllDebrid, next to TorBox. Add your key in Settings and supported hosts download straight in, no browser.
  • Torrents through debrid. A feed can list a magnet link; with a TorBox or AllDebrid key it downloads in Jobee'sLair, and "TorBox Instant" marks torrents TorBox already holds.
  • Turn fakelibs off per game from the Library, for backports that bring their own and crash on a newer console. "Why won't it start?" points you there when that's the cause.
  • Report a bug in Settings. Two presses, your logs reach the Discord, keys and passwords blanked out.
  • Updates offer themselves. From this release on, a new version opens the update window at launch: download, restart, done.
  • Downloads: Clear finished, Cancel all, and cancelling during extraction actually cancels.
  • AkiraBox fixed, Rootz without the browser, calmer Settings, full-screen screen saver, smoother animations, and the missing stars, icons and pictures are back.

Re-released October 23 with three fixes

The first console to take 0.5.1 through the in-app updater found three things, fixed here before most of you saw it:

  • The update installs. "updater.elf did not answer" is gone: a system library's log line could land in front of the updater's answer and the app took it for a no.
  • A new release is offered within the hour. The launch check used to reuse a "nothing new" answer for an hour, so a release published right after you last opened the app showed nothing.
  • The progress bar stays in the window during the update download.

If you're on the first 0.5.1 and the update failed, copy JobeesLair.exfat from this release over FTP once more. From here on, updates install from the app.

Installing

Already on 0.5.0: open Jobee'sLair and it offers 0.5.1 by itself. Download and install, then Restart to apply.

Fresh install: copy JobeesLair.exfat to /data/homebrew over FTP, with Jobee'sLair closed if you're replacing one, and launch it. update.zip is what installed copies use to update; you don't need it.

Something off? Settings → About → Report a bug, or post in the Discord with /data/ps5-react/PPSA99471/app.log if it crashes before you get there.
