NeXroll 2.2.4

NeXroll 2.2.4 is a feature and quality update to 2.2.3. NeX-Up can download movie trailers in your language, the Plex playback guard no longer waits on movies already playing and its wait is now a setting, Docker images are on GitHub's registry again, and changes waiting for playback no longer fill the log with failures.

Back up your configuration before updating (Settings > Backup and Restore).

Upgrading

  • Your data carries over. New settings migrate on first start.
  • Windows: run the installer over your existing install.
  • Docker: jbrns/nexroll:latest is 2.2.4. Images are also published to ghcr.io/jflxcloud/nexroll, labelled with this repository so Renovate and similar tools find these release notes.
  • Jellyfin and Emby: no plugin update is needed; 1.14.1.0 (Jellyfin 10.11 and Emby) and 1.15.1.0 (Jellyfin 12) are current.
  • TMDB: the TMDB key built into NeXroll no longer works. Trailer languages need your own key, which is free from your TMDB account under Settings > API. Paste it in NeX-Up > Settings.

Trailers in your language

Radarr's trailer link is the English trailer. NeX-Up > Settings > Trailer language now asks TMDB for a movie's trailers in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Japanese or Korean, with regional versions such as French (Canada) and Spanish (Latin America), and downloads one of those first. When a movie has none yet, NeX-Up uses the English trailer, or skips the movie until a later sync if you prefer. It applies to NeX-Up and Library Trailers; TV trailers stay English. The alternate trailer search lists TMDB's trailers in your language first. See NeX-Up.

A Plex playback guard you can set

Plex reads its preroll list while prerolls play, so NeXroll holds a schedule change or rotation while a movie that just started may still be in its prerolls. Before 2.2.4 it judged that by when it first saw the movie, so a movie an hour in still held a change for 20 minutes. NeXroll now checks that the movie's position is moving and applies the change within a minute. Settings > General > Playback Guard sets the longest wait, from 5 to 60 minutes, or turns the guard off. See Configuration.

Fixed

  • A change waiting for playback was logged as a failure. "Plex re-apply failed" and "Failed to reapply prerolls to Plex" repeated every few minutes while NeXroll was only waiting for a movie to finish its prerolls.
  • Movie trailer downloads ignored your TMDB API key, so they only ever tried Radarr's trailer.
  • NeX-Up Settings showed an outdated YouTube downloader as installed. It now offers the update.
  • Test key on NeX-Up Settings wrapped onto two lines, never showed its result, and with no key entered reported the built-in key as rejected.

The full list is in the changelog.
