NeXroll 2.2.3 is a feature and quality update to 2.2.2. Sequences gain Tag and File path conditions for prerolls such as an IMAX intro, the Logs page now shows what actually went wrong, adding a NeX-Up trailer yourself is easier, the Categories page is reworked, and random rotation and phone layouts are fixed.
Back up your configuration before updating (Settings > Backup and Restore).
Upgrading
- Your data carries over. New settings migrate on first start.
- Windows: run the installer over your existing install.
- Docker:
jbrns/nexroll:latestis 2.2.3. app.log now lives in/data/logs, so it survives image updates. - Jellyfin and Emby: no plugin update is needed; 1.14.1.0 (Jellyfin 10.11 and Emby) and 1.15.1.0 (Jellyfin 12) are current.
- Logs: earlier versions recorded every page load. Those entries are hidden; Clear page loads on the Logs page deletes them.
Tag and File path conditions
On Jellyfin and Emby, an Advanced-mode block can now play only when the movie has a tag, such as IMAX, or when its file path contains some text, such as IMAX or 2160p. Pick tags from the ones your library already uses. Combine them with Else if to play an IMAX intro before IMAX movies and your usual intro before everything else. See the recipe in Advanced Sequences.
A Logs page that shows what went wrong
Scheduler and background warnings and errors used to go to app.log only, so the Logs page showed almost none of them. They now appear under Events, along with what the scheduler did (prerolls applied or cleared, a change held back while something plays). A message that repeats is recorded once an hour with a count. A new App log view reads app.log in NeXroll, with error traces kept with their entry, and downloads it. Click any event for its details. Request logging now keeps changes, failures and slow requests rather than every page load. See Configuration.
Add a trailer yourself
When NeX-Up can't get a trailer on its own, Add trailer on Your Trailers takes a YouTube link or a file. Pick the movie from Radarr's upcoming list to fill in its details and link the trailer to it: a sync then won't download a second one, and NeX-Up removes it when the movie arrives in your library. See NeX-Up.
Categories
The Categories page lists your categories and the system ones separately. Each shows its preroll count, length and schedules, and a schedule pointing at an empty category is flagged. Select is back for deleting several at once. The category editor fits on one screen; its Save & Apply to Server button is gone, because a running schedule replaced the applied category within a minute. Apply to server now stays in each category's menu for passive mode. See Preroll Library.
Fixed
- Random rotation stalled on Plex while music played or a long movie was under way. It now waits only for video that started in the last 20 minutes. Jellyfin and Emby random categories no longer share one rotation, and rotation remembers its place through changes and restarts.
- app.log never rotated on Windows, and web-server access lines filled most of it.
- Installs without Plex logged "Failed to reapply prerolls to Plex" every five minutes.
- System categories could be edited from the Categories grid.
- Trailers added by hand weren't linked to Radarr, so a sync downloaded a second one and they stayed after the movie arrived.
- "Needs category" counted Library Trailers, while the Uncategorized filter showed nothing.
- Today's run on Schedules led with schedules that had no upcoming window.
- NeX-Up pages on phones: Your Trailers scrolled sideways and filters were cut off. Search boxes drew a second box inside the first.
