NeXroll 2.2.2

NeXroll 2.2.2 is a feature and quality update to 2.2.1. Sequences gain Else if chains so only the first matching block plays, NeX-Up trailers can match the genre of the film starting, Plex's new Apple TV and iOS app gets a prerolls-only setup, categories can be created wherever you need one, and deleted prerolls, category counts and the Upcoming list are fixed.

Back up your configuration before updating (Settings > Backup and Restore).

Upgrading

  • Your data carries over. New settings migrate on first start.
  • Windows: run the installer over your existing install.
  • Docker: jbrns/nexroll:latest is 2.2.2.
  • Jellyfin and Emby: no plugin update is needed; 1.14.1.0 (Jellyfin 10.11 and Emby) and 1.15.1.0 (Jellyfin 12) are current.
  • NeX-Up trailers learn their genres on the next sync. Trailers downloaded before 2.2.2 don't match a genre until then.

Else if: first match wins

In Advanced mode, a block can now be marked Else if: it is checked only when the block above it didn't play. Chain several and only the first one whose condition holds plays; end the chain with a block that has no condition to play when none match. For example, one genre preroll per movie in your order of priority, with your usual intro for everything else. A movie that is both Horror and Sci-Fi plays only the first of those blocks, and Plex, which never says what is playing, gets the default. Flow view draws the chain as IF / ELSE IF branches, and Preview explains which block played. See the recipe in Advanced Sequences.

NeX-Up trailers that match the film

NeX-Up trailer blocks can now prefer trailers that share a genre with the film starting on Jellyfin and Emby, as Library trailers already could. When no trailer shares its genre chooses between trailers of any genre and none. See NeX-Up.

Prerolls only on Plex's new Apple TV and iOS app

Plex's redesigned Apple TV and iOS app skips prerolls when its Cinema Trailers option is set to Play Pre-roll Only; that is a Plex bug. The Cinema Trailers card on the Connect page now has Turn off Plex trailers, which switches off Plex's own trailer sources in one click. With the app set to Play 1 before movie, only your prerolls play.

Also new

  • Create a category on the spot while uploading, editing a preroll, importing a folder, using the Library's bulk bar, or downloading from Community Prerolls.
  • Remove a server NeXroll can't reach. A saved Plex, Jellyfin or Emby server that doesn't answer shows Can't connect with a Remove button.

Fixed

  • Deleted prerolls were never cleaned up. Deleting more than a quarter of the library on disk looked like an offline share, so the entries stayed. Files deleted from folders that are still there are now removed on the next scan, and when NeXroll can't tell, the dashboard offers to remove them.
  • Refresh Library only reloaded the page. It now scans the storage folder, then reloads.
  • Upcoming schedules hid Yearly and Holiday schedules saved with an earlier year's dates. They ran on time; the list now shows them.
  • Categorized prerolls counted as uncategorized in the Library's "Needs category", the edit dialog, the schedule editor's preroll picker and sequence duration estimates.
  • Removing a category in the edit dialog didn't stick.
  • Trailers longer than Max Trailer Duration were reported as a YouTube bot block. They are now reported as skipped for length.
  • The holiday country list is alphabetical.

Issues resolved

  • #41: Prerolls didn't play in Plex's new Apple TV app. Use Turn off Plex trailers with "Play 1 before movie".
  • #43: NeX-Up trailers can match the playing movie's genre.
  • #44: One genre preroll per movie with a default for the rest, using Else if chains.
  • #45: "Needs category" counted categorized prerolls.

The full list is in the changelog.
