🎬 Media Bar Arrives on Jellyfin 12

Media Bar 3.0.0.0 brings support for Jellyfin 12, including compatibility with both the classic desktop experience and Jellyfin's newer modern web layout.

Media Bar itself is the work of MakD and the contributors to the upstream Media Bar project. The plugin I maintain is primarily a Jellyfin wrapper around that work, exposing configuration and integration points so it can be installed and managed cleanly as a Jellyfin plugin.

A huge amount of effort has gone into keeping Media Bar working across Jellyfin's changing web interface, especially for Jellyfin 12. The features, UI work and frontend improvements in this release are built on that upstream work, and the credit for that belongs to MakD and everyone contributing there.

My part is largely packaging, integrating and exposing that work through Jellyfin's plugin system.

• Added support for Jellyfin 12's modern React/MUI home screen layout, alongside the existing classic desktop layout.
• Updated the bundled Media Bar frontend to the latest Jellyfin 12-compatible upstream version.
• Added Jellyfin 12-specific styling so Media Bar integrates correctly with the new web-client shell while retaining the existing appearance on the classic layout.
• Media Bar continues to ship its frontend assets directly with the plugin, ensuring the version displayed in Jellyfin matches the plugin version you've installed.

• Improved Media Bar placement within the Jellyfin 12 home screen across both supported layouts.
• Improved layout behaviour on taller displays, ensuring Jellyfin's home-screen rows remain below the Media Bar content rather than overlapping its controls.
• Improved localisation handling when loading Jellyfin's translation chunks.
• Retained support for the Get updates early option for users who explicitly want to track unreleased upstream Media Bar changes.

🪲 Bug Fixes

• Fixed Media Bar being inserted in the wrong position when using Jellyfin 12's modern layout (#181).
• Fixed translated Media Bar strings falling back to English or producing JSON decoding errors for some languages (#185).
• Fixed home-screen rows overlapping Media Bar buttons on taller viewports.
• Fixed Jellyfin 12 layout differences that could cause Media Bar to render incorrectly compared with Jellyfin 10.11.

⚠️ Compatibility

• Media Bar 3.0.0.0 supports Jellyfin 10.11.11 and Jellyfin 12.
• Users on older Jellyfin 10.x versions should remain on a compatible 2.x Media Bar release.
• Jellyfin 12 support includes both the classic Desktop layout and the newer modern React/MUI layout.
• A compatible File Transformation 3.x release is required.
• If you're using the Get updates early option, unreleased upstream Media Bar changes may behave differently from the frontend bundled and tested with this plugin release.
