Japanese on the screen, AirPlay 2 groups in step, Louder speech, four new skins and Dim after idle.

  • Japanese for the screen (#270, thanks @lem0njuice0): with the screen language set to Japanese, the settings, the side drawer and their pages are in Japanese, long text wraps between characters, and the font downloads by itself if the device has none of its own.
  • AirPlay 2 groups stay in step (#311, thanks @kalsion): the device now tells the AirPlay receiver how much is still to be heard, so in a group with other AirPlay 2 speakers it plays within a few milliseconds of them instead of up to a fifth of a second early.
  • Louder speech (new switch, off by default, #304): replies and announcements are compressed on their way to the speaker, so the quiet parts of words come up. Music isn't changed.
  • New skins: Big and plain, Control room, Prairie (a sunrise over the Nebraska Sandhills) and Earthrise (Apollo 8's photo of the Earth over the Moon). Pip-Boy, Amber terminal, Matrix, Blueprint and Game Boy are gone, being hard to read on some screens; a screen that wore one switches to the closest new one.
  • Dim after idle (new, Never by default, #275): after the time you pick with no touch, no voice turn and nobody seen near, the screen fades to its Dimmest level, and comes straight back at a touch.
  • Dashboard server check (#156): saving the dashcast server on the setup page tries it at once and says whether it works, can't be reached, or didn't take the key.
  • Command words (#265): when "next song" and the wake word catch the same words, the surer one wins, and in a Music Assistant group "next song" skips once, not once per device.
  • The license files of the third-party programs in the images are now in /usr/share/licenses, and every release carries their sources (techo5-third-party-sources-v1.6.9.tar.gz).
