New turn screens, words that work over music without the wake word, a fix for the flickering Show 8 2nd gen screen, and a faster screen on the 1st gen Shows.
- Show 8 2nd gen screen flicker (#187): the screen with the BOE panel (id 0x35) flickered on TECHO5's kernel. It now runs with the same display link settings as Amazon's, and the flicker is gone. The new kernel installs itself on the Show 8 2nd gen, with the usual trial and fallback. Thanks, tioan, for testing.
- Volume up and next song words (#265): two more words that act over music with no wake word, next to the volume down word. Off until you choose them. Thanks, chaoticdopey.
- Two new turn screens: Rainbow (#260), a glow round the whole edge with the words on a frosted card, and Face (#264), a little face that listens, thinks and talks. Thanks, manuugonz and miraassist.
- Faster screen (#259, #261): on the 1st gen Show 8 a frame reaches the screen in about 3 ms instead of 30, and all cores stay awake during a turn or while a finger is on the screen. Thanks, manuugonz.
- Tessera grid (#268): pick more or bigger tiles than the screen's own grid, in Home Assistant (Tessera grid). Thanks, brmo.
- Night warmth: a warmer, lamp-like white on the screen through the night hours. A switch in Home Assistant, off at first.
- Camera login from Home Assistant (#255): a new
camera_credentialsaction sets the camera stream's login, once you turn on Camera login from Home Assistant. Thanks, nuno407. - 2nd gen Show 5 on a mainline kernel and the Show 8 2nd gen's echo reference (#242): groundwork for a mainline kernel on the Show 5, and the Show 8 2nd gen now uses the chip's own copy of what it plays for echo cancellation. Thanks, nuno407.
- Custom wake words: models from newer trainers with a wider window load again (#267). Thanks, stoney66.
- Forecast days (#269): with Germany's DWD weather, the forecast no longer reads "Mon, Mon, Mon, Mon". Thanks, miraassist.
