The screen speaks German, Spanish and Italian, the 2nd gen Show 8's camera uses its hardware JPEG encoder, and calls can switch to WebRTC's echo canceller.
- German, Spanish and Italian (#322, thanks @christianschmidt; #327, thanks @KOPYk4T; #310, thanks @angelor87): pick them in Screen language. Italian is a first draft that hasn't been checked on a device yet, so please say on #310 if something reads wrong.
- More of the screen follows the language (#324, thanks @christianschmidt): the PIN pad, the alarm editor's heading and summary, the weekday chips, and a few buttons and settings rows that stayed in English.
- 2nd gen Show 8 camera (#320, #321, thanks @nuno407): camera pages show full size and the camera stream runs at 15 pictures a second, made by the Show 8's own JPEG encoder instead of the processor.
- Soft-spoken requests (#318, thanks @shawnsi): a pause in the middle of a quiet sentence no longer ends the request early.
- Questions from Home Assistant on the screen (#329, thanks @miraassist): an announcement that asks for an answer (
start_conversation) shows its words while it is said, as a reply does. - Microphone echo canceller in calls (#331, thanks @miraassist): if the other party hears a faint echo of themselves, set it to WebRTC. The device uses WebRTC's canceller for the length of each call and goes back afterward. docs/phone.md, "Echo on a call".
- Turn an alarm off or on by its id (#317, thanks @SCHibbard): Home Assistant requires every field of an action, so the id form is now its own pair,
alarm_turn_off_idandalarm_turn_on_id.alarm_turn_offandalarm_turn_onnow take onlytimeandlabel. If an automation passesidtoalarm_turn_offoralarm_turn_on, switch it to the_idaction. docs/actions.md. - Ring effect settings only where there's a ring (#325, thanks @christianschmidt): the wake, thinking and replying ring effect selects no longer show for a Show in Home Assistant.
- Two wake words, one conversation (#328, thanks @christianschmidt): docs/setup.md now says that both wake words share one conversation in Home Assistant.
