H.265 and VP9 video on the Show 8 2nd gen and the Skylight, clearer music, Swipe for volume, and new clock and weather positions.
- H.265, VP8 and VP9 video on the Echo Show 8 2nd gen and the Skylight Calendar, on TECHO5's own kernel (#212). Their images now carry a 64-bit ffmpeg, and each plays what it decodes in time: the Show 8 2nd gen H.265 up to 1080p at 30 frames a second and VP8 and VP9 up to 1080p at 120; the Skylight all three up to 1080p at 30. A camera's 4K main stream still shows as snapshots. Thanks, nuno407. docs/video.md
- Clearer music: stations, library files, AirPlay, Bluetooth and video sound are converted to the speaker's 48 kHz through a proper filter, so the treble no longer leaves faint ghost tones.
- Swipe for volume (#243): a switch to stop a swipe up or down from changing the volume. It's on by default, so nothing changes until you turn it off. Thanks, mtriedl.
- Clock position Bottom center, and Weather position Top left or Top right (Settings > Display, or in Home Assistant).
- Presence is now Motion in Home Assistant, a motion sensor, with the same entity ID, so automations keep working (#238). Person now looks on its own every 1.5 seconds while it's on, at the middle of the picture, and has a new Person confidence sensor (#215). While it's on it uses some CPU all the time. Thanks, firereverie.
- Camera discovery (#213): with the new switch on, ONVIF apps and Home Assistant can find the Show's camera on the network. It's off by default. If you already added the camera to Home Assistant through ONVIF, it may show up as a new device, because its MAC address is now reported. Thanks, nuno407.
- Show 8 2nd gen kernel update (#214): the kernel gets an echo reference channel for upcoming echo cancellation work, and restarts the unit if a core gets stuck. Units on TECHO5's own kernel install it with this update, on trial like a new system. Thanks, nuno407.
- A faster wake word engine (#210) and boot fixes for the Show 5 2nd gen on a mainline kernel (#211). Thanks, nuno407.
- The diagnostics file always takes Home Assistant's token out.
