The Skylight Calendar 15, TECHO5 Panel for tablets, a light theme, and the Show 8 2nd gen's other screens.
- The Skylight Calendar 15. Not an Echo: the 15-inch wall calendar (150-CAL) runs TECHO5 on its own mainline Linux kernel. Touch, the calendar, photos, dashboards, music and the radio, Bluetooth, the light sensor and the clock work. It has no microphone, so there's no wake word, voice, phone calls or intercom. One command installs it over adb from its stock firmware, after a full backup of the unit. It has been tried on one unit, so keep that backup. docs/install-skylight.md
- TECHO5 Panel, on a tablet with no unlock. An Android app with the same daemon inside: Home Assistant adds it like an Echo, with the same wake words, screens, timers, alarms, intercom and announcements. Tested on a Fire HD 8 (10th gen), a Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and a Meta Portal (2nd gen); other Android 8.0+ tablets may work. The app is released from techo5-panel. docs/panel.md
- A light theme (#196). Theme mode picks Dark (as before), Light, or Auto, which follows the room's light. Each has its own theme and custom colors, set on the screen, on the setup page or in Home Assistant. The setup page's Themes section has color pickers and Match the accent.
- More Show 8 2nd gen screens (#187). The kernel now picks the unit's screen from the name its bootloader passes, so units with screens other than the one tested work too. Ten screens are known; only the BOE ILI9881C one has been tried on a unit. A unit installed with
--force-panelgets its own screen's driver with this kernel. This release installs a new kernel on the Show 8 2nd gen, on trial, with the old one put back if the device doesn't come up right. Its source is attached as always. - Nearest device answers is on by default, also on devices where it had been turned off. With a house word set, only the device that heard you best answers a wake word. Turn it off under Settings or on the setup page if you'd rather not.
.localnames work for the Home Assistant and Music Assistant addresses on the Shows, the Show 8 2nd gen, the Spot and the Skylight (homeassistant.local).- The Show 8 (both generations) draws some controls larger to fit its screen: the settings sheet, the volume bar, the Bluetooth page, the announcement strip.
- The dashboard waits for its pictures (#186). After a tap to another view, the page stays until the new one's pictures are ready, and recent pictures are kept between views.
- The Show 8 2nd gen's store grows under Amazon's kernel too (#192). If an update ever says the store has no room, the message now says how to grow it.
- Your own wake words: the setup page says when a microWakeWord model can't run here (#190).
- For testing: an exact microWakeWord front end, off unless turned on by hand; nothing changes unless you do.
