The Echo Show 8 2nd gen's camera works, a switch for phones that drop off Bluetooth, and a password on the camera's pages.
- The Echo Show 8 2nd gen's camera works. Live on its own screen, a Home Assistant camera, and everything the other Shows do with theirs: presence, person detection, gestures and your recorder over RTSP and ONVIF. It's off while the device is muted or the shutter is closed, and comes back when you unmute or open it. A Show 8 2nd gen started while muted keeps its camera too.
- A new kernel for the Echo Show 8 2nd gen, for the camera. It installs itself the way kernel updates do since v1.2.19: on trial, with the old one kept and put back if the device doesn't come up right. Its source is attached as always.
- Bluetooth Secure Connections (#183). Some newer phones pair and then drop a second later ("Authentication Failed"). Turning Bluetooth Secure Connections off, under Settings > Connections, on the setup page's Connections tab or in Home Assistant, lets them pair the older way and stay. It's on by default, as before. Not on the Show 8 2nd gen, which has it off already.
- The camera's pages ask for the camera password.
/camera.jpgand/camera.mjpegnow take the same login as the camera stream, and light the green dot while they're watched. If a Home Assistant Generic Camera or a recorder reads them with no password today, it gets "401" after this update: set a camera password on the setup page and give it to that camera with Digest authentication. docs/setup.md - A camera that stops goes dark everywhere. Muting, or closing the shutter on a Show 8, used to leave the last live picture up in Home Assistant, on the camera page or with a recorder. Every viewer now ends on the dark frame.
