What's New

  • Applied lots of code quality and performance improvements in multiple phases to the entire code base, guided by the GitHub advanced CodeQL. The details are available on GitHub.

  • Improved the logs generated by the Optional Windows Features page's workflows.

  • Added a new option to the Sidebar that lets you reboot the system directly to the Recovery Environment (aka WinRE).

  • Added secure DoD/DoW certificate installation/removal with official bundle download and DoD PKE signing-chain validation.

  • Added taskbar and start menu pinning options in the Settings page so you can use them to easily pin the app for quick access.

  • Updated localizations and translations.

  • Significantly improved the Sidebar's design in the Harden System Security app. The options there are now more organized and structured.

  • The Ultimate power plan option in the Sidebar now shows the current system status too, in addition to the existing options of enabling/disabling the power plan. This means you no longer need to leave the app to check its status somewhere else.

Important

Harden System Security is used by a wide variety of people with different backgrounds, environments, workflows, and security requirements. Because of that, it is completely natural that not every feature will be used by every person. If a new feature is added that you do not need, that is perfectly fine. Unused features remain inactive and do not consume any background resources. New capabilities do not automatically increase CPU or RAM usage. The app is carefully engineered to remain efficient, lightweight, and respectful of system resources while continuing to serve many different use cases. This app is open source and will always remain open source. Its code is publicly available for anyone to review, audit, verify, and contribute to. You do not have to rely on assumptions, guesses, or blind trust. You can inspect the source code yourself in this repository, confirm the claims being made, and report any issue or discrepancy you find.
