Huge thanks to @maxi1134
This release is powered by an extraordinary contribution from @maxi1134.
Maxi rebuilt and extended BPS far beyond the original feature set — polygon zones, auto-calibration, a modern panel UI, receiver status on the Lovelace card, away detection, crash-safe storage, authenticated APIs, and a long list of bug fixes and polish. That work was shared in #34 via maxi1134/BPS-improved (based on their v1.7.2).
If you benefit from these improvements, please star their fork and say thanks: https://github.com/maxi1134/BPS-improved
BPS continues to build on @agittins' excellent Bermuda integration.
Highlights
- Polygon zones & sub-zones (L-shaped rooms, couches, desks, …)
- Modern dark/zoomable setup panel with zone-grouped sidebar
- Receiver auto-calibration (optional continuous mode)
- Lovelace map card can show receivers (online/offline)
- Nearest-zone sensor, away detection, positions constrained to the floor
- Authenticated
/api/bps/*endpoints + safer map upload handling - Crash-safe layout storage and many stability fixes
- Unit tests + CI workflows
Upgrade notes
- Update via HACS and restart Home Assistant.
- The sidebar panel now uses
panel_custom(required for API auth) — open BPS from the sidebar after restart. - Existing floor plans / zones should migrate automatically; keep a backup of
/config/www/bps_mapsif you want extra safety. - Leave auto-calibration off until you’ve verified basic tracking still looks good.
