Hey there! Thanks for using HAGHS, i really appreciate it 👍
☕ Do you enjoy it? If you've ever gotten value from HAGHS, buying me a coffee is the nicest way to say so ❤️ buy me a coffee, it keeps the project and me going 😉 Thank you!
The fourth beta of HAGHS v2.4.0. It fixes two score rules that gave wrong results for many users, stops HAGHS from blocking its setup without PSI, and makes the dashboard cards easier to read. Some changes can move your score; they are listed under Behavior Changes. Full details: v2.4.0_CHANGELOG.md.
Behavior Changes
- CPU and RAM without PSI and without a sensor are not measured (#123, #176). In earlier betas HAGHS refused to set up until both sensors were selected. Now it always sets up; a missing value is left out of the hardware score instead of counting as 0 % load.
cpu_ram_source,rec_cpu_ram_unmeasured, a recommendation line, a status line on both cards and a non-blocking repair show it. Without PSI the setup, the options and the repair suggest System Monitor's processor and memory sensors when HAGHS finds them; nothing is saved unless you submit.- What you can do: pick the sensors in the repair (Settings → Repairs) or in the HAGHS options.
- Config-Audit bonus for recorder retention (#181). Home Assistant always sets a recorder retention (
purge_keep_days, default 10 days), so the +5 "purge days configured" was given to everyone. Now the +5 is given when the recorder keeps at most 10 days. A default installation keeps its bonus; with a longer retention the bonus drops by 5 and the Config-Audit line says "recorder keeps more than 10 days". The entity-filter +5 is unchanged.- Example: one update pending past the grace period, hardware 100: default installation unchanged; 30 days retention, no filter: application 100 → 95, global 100 → 97.
- The 7-day update grace survives restarts (#182). HAGHS used to forget when it first saw a pending update at every Home Assistant restart, so with weekly restarts updates never cost points. Now the first sighting of each offered version is kept in
.storage/haghs.update_first_seen; a newer version starts its own 7 days. After updating HAGHS the first 7 days count from the update, so nothing costs points at once.- What you can do: nothing needed. If you restart often, pending updates now cost the documented 5 points each after 7 days.
What's New
- Readable dashboard lists (#185). Every list on both cards shows one entry per line; zombies on the Pro card in two lines (name and device, then entity id, state, reason and "for"). Copy the new card YAML from docs/cards/lite.yaml and docs/cards/pro.yaml.
- Repair form asks only for what is missing (#184): both sensor fields are optional; an empty field keeps its setting.
- Cards: with PSI the metric source no longer claims "4 components" (I/O PSI may be missing) (#183); the Pro card's recorder line names the retention (#186).
Documentation and Infrastructure
- Shorter README (#179): setup, labels, attributes, cards and release summaries in full under docs/; a test keeps the README at 400 lines or fewer.
- Documentation checked against the code (#180, #186): every statement in README and docs/ was checked one by one; wrong or outdated statements are corrected, claims without evidence removed.
- Tested on Home Assistant 2024.10.4 (minimum), 2026.9.3, 2026.10.4 and 2026.11.0b2: smoke test, every card link clicked in a browser, and the update from v2.3.0.
Please Test
- Without PSI (Windows, some Docker setups): does HAGHS set up without sensors, and does the repair offer your System Monitor sensors?
- Update penalty after restarts: with an update pending for more than 7 days, does the score count it after a restart?
- Config-Audit: if your recorder keeps more than 10 days, does the Config-Audit line say so?
- Cards: are the lists readable with many zombies or devices?
How to get the beta in HACS: open HACS, open HAGHS, three-dot menu, Redownload, enable Show beta versions, select v2.4.0b4, download and restart Home Assistant. Then copy the new card YAML from docs/cards into your dashboard.
