github HA-Pulse/home-assistant-global-health-score v2.4.0b2

pre-release4 hours ago

Hey there! Thanks for using HAGHS, i really appreciate it 👍
☕ Do you enjoy it? If you've ever gotten value from HAGHS, buying me a coffee is the nicest way to say so ❤️ buy me a coffee, it keeps the project and me going 😉 Thank you!

The second beta of HAGHS v2.4.0. It contains everything merged since v2.4.0b1: zombies that explain themselves, empty devices, a list of the integration entries that fail, opt-in stale monitoring, ignore labels on areas and conditional ignore labels for a vacation mode, German and Brazilian Portuguese translations, and several fixes that keep the score right on large or unusual installations. Full details: v2.4.0_CHANGELOG.md.

Behavior Changes

  • Ignore labels now also work on areas (discussion #96). An ignore label set on an area excludes the entities in that area. If one of your areas already carries a selected ignore label, those entities are now excluded and your score can rise. To revert, remove the label from the area.
  • Entity lists are no longer kept in recorder history. zombie_entities, unregistered_entities, dead_devices, repairs, pending_updates and the new lists keep their current values but are not recorded any more, so large instances stay below Home Assistant's 16 KB attribute limit (above it, Home Assistant stored no attributes at all). Counts, breakdowns, pillars and flags stay in the history. Cards and automations read the current state as before.
  • Dead devices count only monitored entities that are unavailable (#143); unknown and unmonitored domains no longer count. Fewer devices may be reported.
  • Translated recommendation texts. With Home Assistant set to German or Brazilian Portuguese, the recommendations appear in that language. Automations that compare a recommendation with an exact English string need the translated text; for automations the rec_* flags are the better source.
  • Changed English texts. The zombie line adds "Check before deleting: unavailable is not the same as unused."; the dead-device line says "all monitored entities unavailable past the grace period"; the Integration Health line says "integration entry(ies)" because one integration with two failing entries counts twice; punctuation aligned (#136). Counts and penalties are unchanged.

What's New

  • Why and since when each zombie is reported (#154): zombie_count_per_integration, zombie_since, zombie_count_per_reason and zombie_reasons. Only config_entry_missing is a strong hint of an orphaned entity; a zombie is an availability signal, not a deletion list.
  • Failing integration entries: exclude individual config entries from Integration Health in the options, and see the counted ones by name (integration_unhealthy_entries, #134); the Pro card links each to its integration page.
  • Empty devices (#93): devices without any entity are reported (empty_device_count, empty_devices, rec_empty_devices), using registry facts only. Informational, no score impact.
  • Opt-in stale monitoring (discussion #79): passive stale_candidates for sensors that stopped reporting, and watch labels that make overdue entities cost points (5 each, cap 10). New options: stale threshold (default 24 h) and stale watch labels.
  • Conditional ignore labels: extra ignore labels that apply only while a helper (input_boolean, switch or binary_sensor) is on, for example during a vacation mode. Switch the helper from an automation; no Spook needed. conditional_ignore_active shows the state.
  • Calculation failures are visible (#135): a failed or timed-out pillar shows a warning (pillar_fallback_count, pillar_fallbacks, rec_pillar_fallback, update_cycle_failed, rec_update_failed) instead of an all-clear.
  • Translations: Brazilian Portuguese (#138) and German (#163).

Bug Fixes

  • A failing informational check (dead devices, empty devices, zombie reasons) no longer makes its pillar fall back; the score is calculated normally and the failure is logged once.
  • The device registry is read the way current Home Assistant versions support, without deprecation warnings.
  • The README names Spook as the provider of the label actions and shows a working example (#99).

Documentation and Infrastructure

  • Dashboard cards v1.3 (Lite and Pro) with deep links and a more-info link per zombie (#133, #137, #145).
  • README, ROADMAP and the test guide corrected against the code; the suite holds 533 tests.

Please Test

  • Zombie reasons and since-times: do the reasons match what you see on your integrations page?
  • Empty devices: are there devices reported that are not leftovers (for example a hub or a bridge)?
  • Conditional ignore labels and area labels: switch your helper, or label an area, and check that the entities leave and return.
  • Translations: anything still in English or worded oddly?

How to get the beta in HACS: open HACS, open HAGHS, three-dot menu, Redownload, enable Show beta versions, select v2.4.0b2, download and restart Home Assistant.

Please open an issue with a log excerpt if something looks wrong.

Thanks
