github FrizzleM/SideInstaller v1.6.0

latest release: v1.6.1

Main changes:

  • Installs now keep going when you leave SideInstaller
    • On iOS 26 and later the install runs in the background: switch apps or lock your iPhone and it carries on, with its progress in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen, where you can also stop it
    • Below iOS 26, a Live Activity shows the progress for the ~30 seconds iOS allows, then says the install is paused and carries on once you open SideInstaller again
    • The Dynamic Island turns orange when the install needs you (2FA code, App ID confirmation, VPN or Wi-Fi, Trust prompt) and red with the reason if it fails
  • Certificate changes
    • SideInstaller can now sign with SideStore's certificate instead of revoking it. When "A certificate already exists" shows up, tap "Use SideStore's certificate": SideStore exports it to SideInstaller, nothing gets revoked and your SideStore apps keep working. The same button is on the Certificates page
    • Added the option to export the certificate SideInstaller signs with as a password-protected .p12, to use in LiveContainer or other signing apps (fixes #81)
  • You can now use proxy VPNs (ClashMi, Shadowrocket, sing-box, Loon...) instead of LocalDevVPN, as long as they loop the Device IP back to your iPhone (fixes #30 and #83)
  • Big upgrades to the location spoofer
    • Save places and tap them to jump there
    • Import a .gpx file and your iPhone moves along its route (ported from StikDebug)
    • Plan a route through your stops (Drive, Cycle or Walk) over OpenStreetMap. Drives go at each road's speed limit, with a speed limit sign while it plays
  • Added a Developer Mode section in Settings
    • It can show the Developer Mode switch in Privacy & Security, or turn Developer Mode on (only on iPhones without a passcode, and it restarts the iPhone)
    • It needs a working link to the iPhone, so on iOS 27 it can't bring back a Developer Mode switch that disappeared (#29 is still open)
  • Added sideinstaller:// links
    • sideinstaller://install?url= installs an .ipa in one tap from a website or a post
    • sideinstaller://pairingFile?data= imports a pairing file. On iOS 18-26, the new "Get it from SideStore" button uses it to bring over the pairing file SideStore already has
    • Both always ask you to confirm first
  • App ID changes
    • A custom .ipa now shows how many App IDs it will use and how many you have left before it's signed. If you don't have enough, it tells you when the next one frees up
    • App extensions no longer use up App IDs: SideStore with its widget now costs 1 App ID instead of 2
  • Added "Report a problem" (in About, Settings and on the popup when an install fails)
    • It opens a GitHub issue already filled with your SideInstaller version, iOS, iPhone model and the error, and saves a report file with the activity log and crash logs (from SideInstaller, SideStore, LiveContainer and Madeira) for you to attach
  • Update banner changes
    • It now offers three ways to update: from sideinstaller.net, signed with your Apple ID, or inside LiveContainer
    • It now checks the latest GitHub release, so it shows up as soon as a release is out. Betas don't trigger it
  • Side by Side changes
    • The other iPhone's IP address is now optional
    • The pairing with the other iPhone is now deleted once SideInstaller is installed on it
  • Anisette server changes
    • The anisette server setting now has an "Auto" option (the default), which tries the servers most likely to work first. If you pick a specific server, only that one is tried
    • Added "StikStore (Mac ADI)"
  • Madeira now installs from the GitHub releases of FrizzleM/Madeira (the build that renews its own signing) instead of a fixed download link
  • SideInstaller is now ready for the iPhone Duo: it fills both screens and fits the open and tent layouts. On iPad, pages keep to a column in the middle
  • SideInstaller now asks if you downloaded it from sideinstaller.net before you enter your Apple ID, since anyone can publish a modified copy that steals it

Fixes:

  • Fixed pairing stopping at "Local Network denied" when SideInstaller runs inside LiveContainer, even with Local Network turned on (fixes #38 and #84)
  • Fixed SideInstaller saying LocalDevVPN isn't installed when it runs inside LiveContainer (fixes #69)
  • A failed Apple ID sign-in now shows the error that explains it, with the server it came from, instead of whatever the last server said (#82, #89)
    • Apple's "A Mac with macOS version 10.13 or later is required" now skips the other Mac servers, since they all report the same Mac
    • The message now says how many servers were tried and skipped, instead of "all 20"
  • Fixed Side by Side's IP field having no dot key (fixes #54)
  • Fixed "Operation not permitted" when the Device IP was the address on LocalDevVPN's main screen (10.7.1.1). SideInstaller now switches to the right one (10.7.0.1) by itself
  • Lockdown pairing files on iOS 26.4 and later no longer fail with a raw "Broken pipe" error. iOS 26.4 refuses them, so SideInstaller now explains this and shows how to make a remote pairing file with idevice_pair (iLoader's exported pairing file works too)
  • Added a "Copy logs" button to error popups that don't already tell you how to fix the problem
  • Dates and units now follow the app's language when it's set to Automatic
  • Translated the "Install pairing into all apps" button and its messages, which were still in English
