github FrizzleM/SideInstaller v1.4.0

Main changes:

  • Added Madeira as an installable app
    • Madeira runs Windows PC games on your iPhone. It needs iOS 26 or later; on older versions SideInstaller tells you right away instead of using up an App ID
    • It's signed with the Increased Memory Limit entitlement it needs (Madeira shows it as Memory+)
    • Your pairing file is put inside Madeira, so "In-app with pairing file" is already done in its JIT setup. This works with the pairing SideInstaller makes on iOS 27, or an imported pairing file that has an RPPairing record
    • Madeira renews its own signing: SideInstaller gives it a token for Apple's developer service (not your Apple ID password), so it refreshes itself whenever it's open with LocalDevVPN connected, even without SideInstaller. When the token expires, install Madeira again to hand it a new one
    • Madeira can also receive the pairing file from the Pairing tab
  • The pairing code now follows you into Settings
    • While your iPhone pairs, a Live Activity shows the code in the Dynamic Island (as a banner on iPhones without one) and on the Lock Screen, so you no longer have to switch back to SideInstaller to read it
    • Builds from the install page can't include the Live Activity for now, so they show the code as a notification instead. SideInstaller asks to allow notifications the first time you pair; if you don't, the code still shows in the app as before
    • Sideloading SideInstaller with a free Apple ID now uses 2 App IDs instead of 1, since the Live Activity needs its own
  • Installing is faster: reinstalling SideStore on an iPhone 16 now takes about 8.5s (was about 11s)
    • Most of the app is copied to your iPhone while it's being signed, and only the files signing changes are sent afterwards. Every file sent early is checked against the signed app, and if that install fails, the whole app is sent again
    • If the install needs you to tap Trust, it now asks right after connecting, so you can answer while everything else runs
    • If SideStore or LiveContainer is already installed, the pairing file goes in while the app is being signed
  • SideInstaller now installs on iOS 17.4 and later (was iOS 18). Like on iOS 18–26, you need a pairing file made on a computer
  • Added crypto donations (Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana) to the About tab, with a QR code and a copy button for each. They're completely optional and don't unlock anything

Other changes:

  • LiveContainer + SideStore comes from the official LiveContainer repository again whenever it's online
    • While it's offline (it has been since 4 October), SideInstaller installs LiveContainer's last nightly (18 September) from the mirror, but only if it's exactly the official file (SHA-256 check). Anything else under that link is refused
  • If Apple asks for a 2FA code while your iPhone is asking you to tap Trust, SideInstaller's code prompt now waits until you've answered
  • All new text is translated into Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese

Fixes:

  • Fixed a confusing "GitHub answered HTTP 404: Not Found" error when an app's GitHub repository is gone. SideInstaller now says the repository is unavailable and that nothing is wrong with your iPhone or network, and shows how to install from an .ipa you got elsewhere
  • Fixed downloads stopping with "The network connection was lost" when the connection dropped, e.g. while the VPN comes up. SideInstaller now tries twice more before giving up
  • Fixed apps that pick their background task from their own Info.plist losing their background work after signing (e.g. Madeira's Steam downloads)
  • Fixed a 2FA prompt popping up after an install had already been stopped
  • Fixed files left on the iPhone by an interrupted install ending up in the next install

Install page:

  • Added the SideInstaller trailer and crypto donations
  • The signed builds now update as soon as a release is published, instead of once a week

Full Changelog: v1.3.1...v1.4.0
