You need Xbox360 Call of Duty 3 (USA, Europe).iso file for install!
Still in development: bugs can and will occur.
Még fejlesztés alatt: hibák előfordulhatnak.
The first release since 0.4.0: one executable that keeps itself up to date, the game's own menus played with the mouse, prompts that name your keys, and a faster renderer.
New
- One file:
CoD3SP_s.exe. FFmpeg's libraries for the sound and the films are built into it; nothing else to unpack. - Updates itself. At every start it asks GitHub for a newer release; if there is one, it downloads it, replaces itself and starts the new version. Turn it off with
auto_update = 0under[game]inCoD3Recomp.ini, or start it with--no-update. - New first start. The console window asks whether this is a fresh install (choose your disc image, then the folder to install into) or the game is already installed (choose the game's main folder, the one with
default.xex). - The main folder is the game folder. Your saves are kept in its
savefolder. Saves from 0.4.0 (thesavesfolder beside the oldCoD3.exe) are copied over the first time. - The game's own menus work with the mouse. Point at an entry and click it. Right click or Escape goes back. The arrows, sliders, Yes/No questions and the chapter select can be clicked too, and highlighting an entry makes the menu sound.
- VIDEO page in the game's OPTIONS, in the game's own look: resolution, window mode, aspect ratio, resolution scale, field of view, anti-aliasing, texture filtering and quality, shadow quality, model detail, vertical sync and frame rate.
- Wider than 16:9. Aspect ratio 21:9, 32:9 or "fit the window": more is seen to the sides, and the HUD keeps its shape in the middle.
- Shadow quality: shadow maps from 512 (the console's) up to 4096.
- Prompts show your keys. After a key or the mouse, the button icons are drawn as the keys you play with: LMB, RMB, G, 4, C, SPACE and so on. The tutorial's hints name the keys too ("Press [V] to melee."). After the controller they are the console's again; the F11 menu can also lock them to one or the other.
- Sprint (Shift), the multiplayer's sprint put back into the single player, with its fatigue meter. Binoculars on B.
- QUIT in the main menu, where XBOX LIVE MARKETPLACE was. Closing the window also closes the console window.
- F11 menu: Gameplay page (subtitles, the console) and Experimental page. Native command lists and memory write watch are now on by default.
Faster
- A pixel shader variant without the depth cut, used wherever the depth test cannot tell the difference: about 10% more frame rate at high resolution with MSAA.
- The native command lists read the game's commands faster: about 8% more frame rate when the CPU is the limit.
Fixed
- Black screen when knocked down: the game's shock blur never ran, because shader loops all used the first loop constant.
- Lamp glows seen through walls: the game reads the depth buffer on the CPU to hide them, and that depth is now written back for it.
- The mouse look reads the mouse directly, like the PC Call of Duty games do.
- The blur while aiming down the sights (depth of field) is gone, together with its setting.
Known issues
- Thin stretched lines (spikes) can appear near the barbed wire and grass at the grenade training in Saint-Lô.
- White glints can flicker on some metal and road surfaces in strong firelight (the hostage level).
- Starting a new game over an existing save and backing out of the "overwrite" question can bring that question up again in the level, at the first checkpoint.
spmapfrom the console in the middle of a level leaves the player without weapon and HUD; start levels from the menus.
The first start after this update rebuilds the shader cache, so the first level takes longer to come up once.
Updating from 0.4.0
0.4.0 cannot update itself, so this time do it by hand. Put CoD3SP_s.exe into the old folder, next to CoD3.exe and the game folder, and start it. It finds the installed game, keeps your settings (CoD3Recomp.ini) and copies your saves into game\save. CoD3.exe, CoD3.pdb and the three FFmpeg DLLs are not needed any more. From now on the game updates itself.
Files
CoD3SP_s.exe: the game. On first start it asks for your disc image (or your installed game) and installs from it.
Inside it: FFmpeg N-123653-gd1bcaab230-20260328 (shared, GPL v3), for the sound. Its source is at ffmpeg.org.
