4.0.8 – Bookmarks bar over an open sidebar
With a sidebar panel open, whether bookmarks, history or an AI chatbot, the bookmarks bar never showed up, no matter where you hovered. That was on purpose, and it was the wrong call.
Fixed
- An open sidebar panel no longer hides the dynamic bookmarks bar. The bar floats over the panel the same way it floats over the page, and still starts after the launcher strip, so the launcher icons stay clear. The find bar moves down with it again.
Changed
- This takes back part of #82. Back then, an expanded launcher and an open panel were both treated as "no room", and the bar faded out in either case. For the expanded launcher that still holds: the bar would cover your vertical tabs, so it stays hidden there. A panel is different. It's content, like the page, and hiding the bar there left it out of reach for as long as the panel stayed open.
Notes
- The price: while the bar is revealed, it covers the top row of the panel. Starting the bar after the panel instead isn't possible in CSS. The panel is as wide as you dragged it, and a stylesheet can't read that width.
- Only
userChrome.csschanged.userContent.cssjust carries the new version number, so there's no need to copy it again. - 4.1 will be a cleanup round that removes or merges some options. If you have any of them set to something other than the default, please say so in #73 before November 8.
- Every option is explained in the customisation guide.
- Tested on Windows with
browser.nova.enabledset totrue.
