4.0.6 – Mini Window
Firefox 160 brings Mini Windows: right-click a tab, choose "Move to Mini Window", and it pops out into a small window that stays on top while you browse. FoxOne didn't know about them yet, and it showed.
Fixed
- Mini Window: the page no longer sits a whole toolbar height below the bar. The bar now slides in over the top edge and pushes the page down by exactly its own height, the way Firefox intends. (#88)
- Mini Window: the menu and extensions buttons are gone again. Firefox hides them there, but FoxOne's pinned versions brought them back. (#88)
Changed
- Mini Window: the address bar now fills the row instead of sitting centred at 60 % width, with a gap before the two buttons on the right so you can still drag the window. The close button turns red on hover, like the window controls in a normal window. (#88)
Notes
- A Mini Window takes its buttons from your own toolbar layout, minus what Firefox hides there. If reload is missing, it's missing from your toolbar too.
- The Firefox 160 beta has Mini Windows on by default. On 159, set
browser.mini-window.enabledtotrueinabout:configto try them. - Only
userChrome.csschanged.userContent.cssjust carries the new version number, so there's no need to copy it again. - Known issue: on Firefox 154 and later, the fullscreen toolbar doesn't yet notice when Firefox hides the launcher along with it. It shows on a new tab with the bookmarks bar revealed. ESR 153 is not affected. (#94)
- 4.1 will be a cleanup round that removes or merges some options. If you have any of them set to something other than the default, please say so in #73 before November 8.
- Every option is explained in the customisation guide.
- Tested on Firefox 160 beta on Windows with
browser.nova.enabledset totrue.
