4.0.5 – Fullscreen with the sidebar launcher
A small one, and again mostly @snkiz's work: fullscreen (F11) with the sidebar launcher, which neither of us uses day to day and which turned out to behave differently in every Firefox version. Thank you, Corey, for untangling it.
Fixed
- In fullscreen (F11), the toolbar no longer covers the collapsed sidebar launcher. It now starts right next to it, with the sidebar on either side. With the launcher expanded the toolbar stays full width, and with "expand on hover" it steps out of the way while the launcher is expanded. (#89, #91 by @snkiz)
- In fullscreen, the find bar no longer hides under the toolbar while the toolbar is shown, and the small gap above the toolbar is gone. (#70, #91 by @snkiz)
- With the dynamic bookmarks bar open, the find bar now moves down exactly as far as the bar is tall at every density. It used to move too far at compact and not far enough at touch. (#93 by @snkiz)
Changed
--uc-bookmarks-bar-heightnow follows Firefox's density (about 33 / 39 / 45px at compact / normal / touch) instead of a fixed 39px. It only sets how far the find bar moves down, not the bar's height, and the customisation guide now says so. If you set your own value, it still wins, but it might be worth removing it to get the new default.
Notes
- macOS: with the native context menus, the dynamic bookmarks bar collapses when you right-click a bookmark. Set
widget.macos.native-context-menustofalseinabout:configto use Firefox's own menus, and the bar stays open. Thanks to @atrehhoff for tracking down the cause. (#92) - Only
userChrome.csschanged.userContent.cssjust carries the new version number, so there's no need to copy it again. - Known issue: on Firefox 154 and later, the fullscreen toolbar doesn't yet notice when Firefox hides the launcher along with it. It shows on a new tab with the bookmarks bar revealed. ESR 153 is not affected. (#94)
- The hover sidebar in fullscreen is hard to reach on Firefox 154 and later. That's Firefox's behaviour and is filed upstream as bug 2088874.
- 4.1 will be a cleanup round that removes or merges some options. If you have any of them set to something other than the default, please say so in #73 before November 8.
- Every option is explained in the customisation guide.
- Tested on Firefox 159.0.1 on Windows with
browser.nova.enabledset totrue.
