4.0.4 – Sidebar launcher and vertical tabs

Once again most of this one comes from @snkiz, and once again it covers layouts I don't use myself: the sidebar launcher and vertical tabs. Thank you, Corey, also for sitting through several review rounds.

Fixed

  • With the dynamic bookmarks bar on, the bar no longer covers the sidebar launcher. When the launcher is collapsed to its icon strip, the bar now starts right next to it, with the sidebar on either side and at every density. When the launcher is expanded or a sidebar panel is open, the bar stays hidden because there is no room for it, and the find bar no longer moves down for it. (#82, #86 by @snkiz)
  • In the collapsed vertical tab strip, tabs are no longer wider than the strip, and the strip looks the way Firefox draws it again. The close button no longer lands next to the icon, the active tab is marked with a line, the tab background sits centred behind the icon, and pinned tabs lose the grey square. (#85, reported by @snkiz)
  • With reduced motion turned on in your system settings, the dynamic bookmarks bar and the find bar now appear without animation. The setting never reached them before. The hover delay still applies.

Notes

  • Only userChrome.css changed. userContent.css just carries the new version number, so there's no need to copy it again.
  • No options were added or changed. --uc-active-tab-width, --uc-inactive-tab-width and --uc-tab-min-width now only apply to horizontal tabs, and the customisation guide says so.
  • If you keep a panel like Sidebery or Tree Style Tab open all the time, the dynamic bookmarks bar stays hidden, fresh tabs included. Collapse the sidebar with the sidebar button to get the bar back, and the panel keeps its state.
  • Known issue: in fullscreen (F11), the toolbar does not come down together with the bookmarks bar. This was already there before this release, and @snkiz is working on it in #89.
  • 4.1 will be a cleanup round that removes or merges some options. If you have any of them set to something other than the default, please say so in #73 before November 8.
  • Every option is explained in the customisation guide.
  • Tested on Firefox 159 on Windows with browser.nova.enabled set to true. @snkiz tested the sidebar launcher on ESR 153, Release 159, Beta 160 and Nightly 161, in all three densities and with horizontal and vertical tabs.
