4.0.2 – Bookmarks and private windows

Most of this one comes from @atrehhoff, who kept testing and kept finding things over the last two days. One of them turned out to affect everyone who opens a private window. A huge thank you, Allan, for all that work!

Fixed

  • With --uc-hide-urlbar-buttons: 1, Ctrl+D and bookmarking from the page's context menu work again. Firefox opens the bookmark panel at the star, and once the star was hidden it found no place to open it, so nothing happened and nothing was saved. The star is now hidden in a way that keeps it usable as an anchor. If you move through the toolbar with the arrow keys, the invisible star is still a stop, and Enter on it bookmarks the page. (#76, by @atrehhoff)
  • Under a Firefox theme, for example from an extension like Adaptive Tab Bar Colour, buttons, checkboxes, links and focus rings now use your FoxOne accent instead of the system accent colour. Surfaces and text still follow the theme. (#77, reported by @atrehhoff)

Changed

  • Private windows: Firefox paints them purple with a built-in theme, which left the bookmark panel and other popups purple with violet buttons. Popups, menus, dialogs, the sidebar and the bookmark panel now keep FoxOne's colours there. Only the toolbar stays purple, so you can still tell a private window apart at a glance. (#77)

New

Notes

  • Only userChrome.css changed. userContent.css just carries the new version number, so there's no need to copy it again.
  • If you hide the star in your own CSS with display: none, Ctrl+D breaks the same way. Use the rule from #76 instead.
  • 4.1 will be a cleanup round that removes or merges some options. If you have any of them set to something other than the default, please say so in #73 before November 8.
  • Every option is explained in the customisation guide.
  • Tested on Firefox 159 on Windows with browser.nova.enabled set to true. The star fix was also confirmed on macOS by @atrehhoff.
