4.0 – Back on ESR
3.9 ran out of numbers, and this felt like the right release to roll over. While Nova was still moving on ESR 153, every round shifted something and icons fell out of line, so the README pinned ESR 153 to 3.5.2, the last release that matched it. With a fresh ESR 153 install next to my daily Firefox, the current release is tested there again, and ESR 153 users can simply take the latest release. Both fixes in this release came from @snkiz, who builds FoxMica on top of FoxOne.
Fixed
- On ESR 153 the URL bar no longer widened while you typed. Since 3.9.8 the widening waited for the results list to open as a popover, which only exists from Firefox 157 on. It now also follows the open list the way ESR shows it, so typing widens the bar on both. A fresh new tab still stays narrow until you type. (#69, found by @snkiz)
- The dynamic bookmarks bar covered the floating find bar while it was open. The find bar now moves down out of its way while the bar is revealed and back up once it hides, with the bar's own delays. On pages where the bookmarks bar stays hidden, the find bar keeps its usual place. (#70, found by @snkiz)
New options
--uc-bookmarks-bar-height– how far the find bar moves down while the bookmarks bar is open.39pxfits the default density. If your density or font size changes the bar's height, adjust it to match.
Notes
- Only
userChrome.csschanged.userContent.cssjust carries the new version number, so there's no need to copy it again. - Every option is explained in the customisation guide.
- Tested with the default settings on Firefox 158 and ESR 153 on Windows with
browser.nova.enabledset totrue.
